WOW: IMDB offering legal free movies & t.v. shows to stream online!

IMDB in conjunction with their owners Amazon, are now offering 6,000 movies and t.v. episodes, 100% legal and for free online streaming via Hulu.

Browsing the current small selection, my eye immediately turns to classic episodes of the original STAR TREK series, episodes of THE OFFICE and full length movies such as LIAR LIAR and MASTER AND COMMANDER. It’s claimed the platform will also premiere episodes of 30 ROCK, LIPSTICK JUNGLE and CHUCK before they air on NBC.

The site is not very user friendly and there’s certainly not thousands of video content just yet… but it’s a start and hopefully they will begin rolling out more content in the weeks to come.

I also hope for some kind of rotation, rather than leaving movies and shows static. For example there are five episodes of TREK on their now, I would love for them to be up for a long while and then replace by another five, rather than never uploading anymore episodes of the classic show.

why do they bother calling it the world wide web when they don’t let stuff like this be world wide?

I somehow don’t think IMDB decide on whether or not a product can be distributed World Wide.

I think it’s because it’s a deal with Hulu, which isn’t open to anyone outside the US if I remember correctly.
