MORE BREAKING NEWS: Wesley Snipes gets 3 year jail sentence

Wesley Snipes, the huge action star of the 90’s from such movies as Demolition Man, Rising Sun, Passenger 57 and the lead of the mega popular Blade series for Marvel has been jailed for three years for his tax evasion crimes.

The 45 year old was given the maximum sentence possible by a court in Florida.

Variety carry the news from the Associated Press

A federal judge has sentenced action star Wesley Snipes to the maximum three-year sentence on tax charges.

Prosecutors had requested three years, one year for each of Snipes’ convictions of willfully failing to file a tax return.

Snipes’ lawyers offered three dozen letters from family members, friends and even fellow actors Woody Harrelson and Denzel Washington attesting to his good character. They argued he should get only probation, because all three convictions were misdemeanors and the actor had no previous criminal record.

MUCH MORE ON THE MATTER HERE

Ironically it’s been three years since Wesley Snipes’ last movie of note… Blade Trinity. Since 2004, five of his six features have gone STV, though the Jason Statham lead Chaos which Snipes had a role in might as well have gone the same route.

2009 could have been his comeback year as he was set to star in Spike Lee’s upcoming WW-II drama Miracle at St. Anna until he was restricted permission from leaving the U.S. during filming last year.

Snipes last shot movie which he completed before this sentence is Gallowwalker, about a cursed gun man whose victims come back as zombies which will no doubt be STV next year.

Maybe jail is the best thing for him when his career has gone so low he is doing movies such as that. Will you guys really miss him from starring in some of the crap he has been in lately?

  1. I didn’t know he was in that many films since 2004. Maybe this’ll help his career in the long run. The public will like him for paying for his crimes. He gets more exposure, gets bigger roles like he used to. Maybe.

  2. Don’t know if I would have used Woody Harrelson as a character witness.

  4. Has anyone else just had Adam Hart-Davis pop up in their head saying “tax doesn’t have to be taxing…”?
