I didn’t like THE EDGE OF LOVE when it was known as ATONEMENT!!

Didn’t I see this movie last year - wasn’t it called Atonement?

Kiera Knightley’s latest dramatic piece of work is another World War II drama where she gets to wear some pretty 40’s style clothing and outrageously red lipstick. The look really suits her pouted mouth though doesn’t it?

She was born to play 40’s ideals and it’s no surprise she has done another movie in this genre so soon.

The storyline of this one is that she plays opposite against Sienna Miller in attempting to win the love of a charismatic and handsome poet Dylan Thomas, played by Matthew Rhys and you also have Cillian Murphy in their to add a bit of complexity to this love tale.

You may remember that Lindsay Lohan was to star opposite Knightley in this project before dropping out due to personal trouble last year and I’m certain the acting would have been just as bad from her but really, Sienna Miller is not much better. I’ve said this before about her, if she doesn’t open her mouth she can be interesting to watch (think the dancing scene in Layer Cake) but as soon as her gob opens… I can’t watch her.

The movie is from John Maybury who directed Knightley in The Jacket and it’s due out on June 20th in the U.K.

Hopefully it’s better than Atonement!

  1. Um thats the Atonement which won a Golden Globe, Bafta and got an Oscar Nom. OK everyone has got their likes and dislikes but could you be any more blatent? I’ve read the novel and the film is a faithful to its source and gave me a real gut check. Was it better then No Country for all Old Men? No. Was it one of the top ten movies of last year? Yes.

  2. I personally adored Atonement, but i don’t think that this will be any near as good as it!
    But we shall see :)

  3. I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting much when Atonement was released. I can’t explain why exactly, but it wasn’t screaming out at me to watch it. However, when I finally did get around to it, I was pleasanty surprised.

I agree with Chris. It was definetely one of the best ten films of last year, and that is high praise indeed when you consider that 2007 was a great year for films.

I’d also fuck Keira Knightly in a New York minute.

  6. I challenge anyone to watch Factory Girl and still deny that Miller has skills far beyond many of her generation. Portman and Johannsen have nothing on her.

  7. I’ve seen Factory Girl and Sienna Miller is very good in it not as good as Guy Pearce as Warhol mind but still very good. The film suffers from a sub par script but she does have a presence in the film.
