So I’m watching the trailer for Paul W.S. Anderson’s latest cinematic achievement and I’m pleasantly surprised as The Bourne Ultimatum’s talented Joan Allen gives her usual great line delivery. Surely an actress like her who never takes the paycheck role may actually have signed up to a worthwhile project?
Well very quickly my sense came back to my head. The movie looks all kinds of crap.
Gone is the goofiness, the camp, the whole basic concept of the original (which was neither a race, nor a battle against other cars… it was basically like Grand Theft Auto, you gain points for the amount of people you kill and damage you cause) and in it’s place is a Mad Max colour scheme video game that is going to be a yawn fest I’m sure.
I’m going to have a hard time sitting through this one…
Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, Ian McShane, Joan Allen and Robin Shou make up the core cast. The movie opens in September.

Come on, it doesn’t look that bad. Definitely an improvement on the Resident Evil movies, anyway. Also, maybe it’s just because I’m English but I still can’t get over Lovejoy as a “tough guy”…
Bad, it looks rocking… The first movie was a lame camp fest, although I will agree getting points for hitting people was an original idea. It looks like what it is suppose to be, a 90 minute thrill ride on a summer evening.
I might just see this one opening weekend…
