Why So Ridiculous?

Last time, then I’m done. I’m not talking about this anymore.

All I’m going to say is… you guys got it so right last year with your 2007 nominations. But this year, you played it safe. FROST/NIXON, THE READER. Not two of the best films 2008 should be remembered for.

What’s wrong with Frost/Nixon?

Nothing’s wrong with Frost/Nixon. But in my opinion, and that of many others, neither it nor The Reader is worthy of a best picture nomination. I think there are several other films that deserved the nod a lot more. I’m not even sure the Dark Knight should be in there (it should have had a nod for direction though) but both Wall-E and The Wrestler are more than deserving. Even Benjamin Button seems like a stretch, but it will probably win because it’s exactly the type of thing the academy loves.
