Fan made trailer for The Dark Knight

jokerfanmadetrailer.jpgNot news, but this is probably the best fan made teaser trailer I’ve seen for a long time. If you pause the bit with Aaron Eckhart which is a mock-up of his political rally, you can see the Dent posters in the background… very impressive.

Very impressive mock-up of Heath Ledger as The Joker too, one of the best I’ve seen. The only thing that really lets the trailer down is the image from Se7en that’s planted in there. Still it’s very impressive and gets me excited for when we will first see a trailer for this thing.

I’m expecting just a small teaser (maybe just joker playing cards and a logo) at the Comic-Con next month, and then at the end of the year we will see a good length trailer with real footage from The Dark Knight.

Rachel Dawes & Harvey Dent set pics

Apologies folks for the amount of material on The Dark Knight but I’m afraid it’s going to be like this for the next 12 months now that we are starting to get the early hints of what everything is going to look like.

Below we have the first images of Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel Dawes and Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent. Also below we have an image that COULD be the set for a political rally for Dent and it certainly holds true to the colour scheme of the official Dent teaser image that was released last month.

Boy, Gyllenhaal and Katie Holmes really could have been sisters…

Thanks to Coming Soon for the link to the first two images.

Thanks to Batman on Film for the last image.

Aaron Eckhart goes Traveling

us-aaron-eckhart-thank-jason.jpgAaron Eckhart is set to star in the Universal Pictures drama Traveling, which will begin shooting next year. Brandon Camp will make his directorial debut with the flick. He is probably best known for writing the screenplay to the 2002 movie Dragonfly, which he collaborated with Mike Thompson who is also on board for this drama.

Eckhart will play a widower whose book about grieving turns him into a phenomenon. Reinvented as a charismatic self-help guru, he falls for a woman at a seminar and is forced to confront the fact that he hasn’t come to grips with his own loss.

Variety claim the movie to be a serious drama so don’t expect any Rom-Com softly-softly touches like Eckhart suddenly falling for this new love and it all being plain sailing with touches of light humour and slapstick comedy.

This actually promises to be quite dark with some similar sounding themes to that of Vertigo. Will Eckhart like Jimmy Stewart try and make this new love dress, walk and talk like his dead lover?

I believe in Harvey Dent!

This is pretty fun. From an official part of The Dark Knight website which you can find at ibelieveinharveydent.warnerbros.com comes this image of Aaron Eckhart in a promotional poster for the role of D.A. Harvey Dent.

The site also has our first official synopsis on the movie but of course it’s nothing we didn’t know already. The plot for this movie has been obvious for many months now…

Batman raises the stakes in his war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the city streets. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as The Joker.

There’s word stemming from MTV that Black Snake Moan actor/rapper David Banner has auditioned for the role of Gamble in the movie. Beats me who the character is, I’ve never heard of him. I’m guessing it will be a new role written for the film… perhaps one of The Joker’s henchman?

Eric Roberts confirmed for The Dark Knight

ericroberts.jpgWe don’t have confirmation from Variety or The Hollywood Reporter on this one. It’s even better. It’s straight from the horses mouth. Eric Roberts said the following to IF Magazine found through Batman on Film….

“I’m a Mafioso in THE DARK KNIGHT and I haven’t seen the script; all I’ve seen is the pages they sent me to audition. It’s all very hush hush. We’re going to be shooting in Chicago and London. I love Christian Bale what an actor. I have interactions with both Heath Ledger and Christian Bale and I am a bad guy. It was thanks to HEROES that I started to get this new found appreciation for the comic book genre.”

Pretty cool news then. It’s obvious he is going to play the character of Sal Maroni who will have a certain interaction with one of our new characters in the next year’s film. (Click on his title to see his wiki page where all will be revealed!).

For those keeping track…

Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman (at least I think he has) have all been confirmed as returning.

Heath Ledger (as The Joker), Aaron Eckhart (as Harvey Dent), Maggie Gyllenhaal (replacing Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes), Eric Roberts (a villain, very likely gangster Sal Maroni) and William Fitchner (a small cameo as a bank manager) are the new additions so far.

Rutger Hauer, Cillian Murphy, Tom Wilkinson and Linus Roache are currently only maybes. I would strongly expect the latter 2 for a reprisal, but not the first two although I would expect Murphy to return at some point in the future.

We know they are on the look out for a Latin female to play the role of Detective Renee Montoya but apart from her I can’t think of any other role from the comic book lore that I would expect to be in this movie.

The first set of filming has wrapped in Chicago. The next location is said to be London in a few weeks time, where Christian Bale will shoot his first scenes.

Aaron Eckhart is HARVEY DENT

98976843.jpgBig, big, big news. It’s the one we have all been waiting for…..

39 year old actor Aaron Eckhart will play Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight. Variety have confirmed it!

My initial reaction is that’s he wouldn’t be my first choice, or probably my second, third, fourth or fifth……but it’s still a damn good pick. I’m happy with it.

If you haven’t seen this man’s work then I would suggest you hunt out last year’s Thank You For Smoking, he was superb in that. Damn, I really wish I could have seen the whole of The Black Dahlia in October to see what this guy can do…. I’m determined to go out and buy it this week.

After all, the dude is playing MY FAVORITE COMIC BOOK VILLAIN of all time. Sure 13p23.jpgeveryone likes The Joker, but I can relate a hell of a lot more to Harvey Dent and Two-Face.

He’s by far the most complex and interesting villain of the whole bunch, and I can’t wait to see his slow and emotional turn on screen.

I’m a little sad I won’t get to see Liev Schreiber in the role as for me he was the walking, talking, real-life Harvey Dent but in truth, I’m just glad the part has been cast and all the bullshit rumour is over.

Big props to Latino Review, who ran this story earlier in the week but I dismissed it as being “just another rumour”. They are currently 100% sure that Maggie Gyllenhaal has been cast as the new Rachel Dawes, so maybe we can expect that announcement soon as well.

Stay with us, things might actually start happening in Batman land over the next few days!
