INTENSE t.v. spot for THE DARK KNIGHT
The mass publicity for The Dark Knight truly begins now, it’s no longer confined to the viral marketing to please the Internet fanboy. Warner Bros. and Chris Nolan now need to spread the word to the average joe who at this point might only be vaguely aware that a sequel to the awesome Batman Begins is opening in just over two months time.
The t.v. spots for Begins did wonders for getting the word out there that this new movie wasn’t going to have anything to do with the spandex of George Clooney or Arnie’s over the top villain Mr. Freeze. And if this t.v. spot for The Dark Knight is anything to go by, people are going to understand that this Joker is nothing like the cackling Jack Nicholson portrayal.
And I think that could be the key to the box office gold. They think they know The Joker… but in truth they haven’t seen anything yet.
This intense t.v. spot played during last night’s Survivor in the U.S. and it FUCKING RULES (we talk about spoilers after the trailer)…
A question…
Is The Joker’s better class of criminal actually NOT him… and actually Two-Face? Is his creation of Dent’s alter ego (look at the scene, burning fire) actually who he is talking about?
And I for one am happy as larry that they have used THE most memorable scene from The Long Halloween (even more so than Dent’s transformation I feel) because Dent, Batman and Gordon on the rooftop SHOULD be the back-bone of this story… and their plan to unite as a trio to take down The Joker should be something that we remember as the story unfolds and their characters change forever.
Can’t wait to see a HQ version. In the U.S. - The Dark Knight opens a week earlier than the U.K. - I’m not sure I’m going to be able to hold out.
In the mean time, this is what you need to do. Tell your friends and everybody about him, let’s make this one of the biggest movies of the summer…

Matt, I was thinking the same thing about the better class of criminal Joker promises. I think it’s either Joker burns Harvey’s face or suggests it to one of the mob bosses. In both cases, he’s keeping his promise. This of course would depend on if he knows what would happen to Harvey when pushed to the edge. So, pretty much the better class will start with Joker, Two-face, and whoever else is inspired to take on Gotham and the Batman.

Or…maybe Two Face and The Joker don’t get along and it’s more of a comment about Two Face.

I know that many people don’t want to see a different joker in the next film after Dark Knight,, but personally I think The Joker and Two-Face going toe to toe would be a bad ass battle to see go on throughout the film, with Batman as more of a spectator in the mix who has a hard time keeping up.
