Well, suffice to say the fan of the character are not pleased by these major changes in the foundation of Magneto’s character. Goyer is basically pulling an “Anikin Skywaler”, making Magneto a villain, partially responsible for the horrible things that happened to him, before he even becomes a villain. The audience will have no sympathy and his fall will be neither dramatic or interesting. All Goyer is making here is a one dimensional monster, not the three dimensional, morally ambiguous anti-hero he has become in the 616 universe.

As long as Goyer’s name is attached to the project I can say that a lot of the fans of the character are not even going to go near this film (I won’t even rent it). We’ll just be satisfied with his character as he is portrayed in the comics and try to ignore this films existence.

whoa hey, x3 is actually my favourite of the 3 x films.
bryan singer was nowhere as good. gimme a break. superman returns even stinked although i had hoped it would be good atleast. x3 was epic and grandeur.
i did watched it over n over again. x1 made me sleep halfway, so did x2 (although far better than x1).
nehow im just stoked theyre doing another x-men related movie

X-Men 3 sucked – we all know it. Unfortunately Brett Ratner murdered the franchise.

The hard thing now for fans is not to become so blind to the attrocity, just because they loved the characters so much.

Magneto could be well done – PROVIDED it doesn’t turn out like another “Hannibal Rising” – what they DO need to do is get the franchise back from the abyss – introduce APOCALYPSE (give him a Nazi Connection/Weapon X Connection), SOMEHOW bring back Cyke and Jeanie, and KILL Brett Ratner (dude, just stay making films like “Rush Hour 3″ – you are the George Lucas/Ang Lee/Joel Schumacher of X Films).

interesting details, and if handled intelligently, it could be a great action-suspense-sci-fi movie, especially with the globe-trotting aspect; my only concern is any political backlash when the subtext is examined of Magneto, who is of Jewish background, apparently going “overboard” in his quest for revenge, and becoming something of a “terrorist” for mutant supremacy..

I am a huge X-Men fan and I loved all 3 X-Men movies, As a matter of fact, I’m really looking froward to watching X3 in HD on HBO in about 45 minutes. All that being said, while the Wolverine movie can’t arrive fast enough, I have no interest in a Magneto movie. I don’t care about how he met Professor X, designed Cerebro, avenged his second cousin’s botched cirumcision, etc. Am I alone?
Congrats to the site for a huge scoop. I enjoy script reviews. I know they rub a lot of insiders the wrong way but it’s great to get the early buzz.
