After several weeks of hard graft, and even more time spent deliberating over the future direction of the site, we proudly unveil the new look Obsessed With Film.
It’s very much early days, and your help will be very much appriciated in helping us iron out any bugs, but we felt with it being the start of a new month it made sense to go live with the design today. There are still a few areas we need to complete, including the much discussed individual blog areas which will give writers an exclusive area to voice their own opinions. The footer of the new design is also awaiting completion and will include various useful links to help you navigate through the pages. IE6 users, and those who don’t have default font sizes on their browsers, may face the most difficulty in this early stage.
The new design represents the first phase of a 3-step development which will hopefully see Obsessed With Film become one of the most respected and visited movie hubs on the Internet.
Phase 2 will see the introduction of a huge database project which will see us carrying pages for each and every new release and upcoming project. In addition, the database will include actor and director ratings – something which is inexplicably missing from IMDB.
Phase 3 will require a little bit of your help as it involves spreading the OWF word globally. We will be carrying out a huge marketing campaign both on and offline, and with your help we hope it will see us become the number one source for all things film. Already reaching over 100,000 movie fans every month, we want this number to at least double by the end of 2008.
We wouldn’t be half the site we are today without the continued support of all the regular contributors – both writers and those of you who regularly comment. We’re expecting big things for the site in the coming months, and we are looking forward to you being a part of it.
Your thoughts, as always, are welcomed.

For fuck sake. Deja vu anyone?
idk. it looks alright, but i preferred just the simple blog layout. makes reading the news more interesting instead of having a million things one page. just my opinion. its not bad tho
Hi Roars,
This new concept is very much nothing like any of the other 50 million designs we’ve had. A lot of time and planning has gone into this latest model, as well as a lot of cash developing the backend which is still to come.
As for the blog layout, Alk, in order to move forward in the way we wanted to it simply wasn’t possible to maintain that format. We want OWF to take on the likes of ComingSoon when it comes to reporting the news, whilst still carrying the same great features and writers which make this site so great. Individual blogs written by the likes of Ray will maintain the traditional “blog layout” when they are launched in the coming days.
Well, I think the point is that we’re seeing change now, and it’s much better than before. The site will be able to develop more personality in due time.
I think it’s much better, much more user friendly for starters. You’re not immediately faced with a load of articles stacked, blog style on the front page, so if you’re just a casual viewer you’re going to have more confidence that you’ll be able to find what it is you’re looking for. Keep up the good work people.
I like it.
I like it too.
EEK. It’s all professional now, but very clean looking. You’re ready to throw down on Cinematical’s new (and fussy) redesigned site! Good job!
Yeah, I’m sure it looks fine. It’s just annoying when, like you say, it’s been changed every month. Stick with this one for at least two months and I’ll be happy :p
Alright: very swish indeed. May the blog layout stay dead and buried…
Dont like it fella!
I’m with James … kill the blog style on the front page. Leave the blogging to the bloggers.
Wait, how do we search for articles?
