STATUS

According to star Jay Baruchel on 20.01.10 – the movie could film late 2010, once Seth Rogen has completed I’m With Cancer and if Baruchel decides to make this movie over his hockey comedy The Goon;

“We’ve been working on it and writing it for the past two years. There’s a studio that wants to make it, so everybody wants to do it, it’s just a matter of timing. I’d say that we at least start making the thing in some capacity by the end of this year“.

The movie is an apocalypse action comedy set mostly in a shambolic and unmessy apartment. Jay Baruchel and Seth Rogen will star, possibly as themselves.

Superbad writers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg wrote the script and to drum up studio interest in 2007 they got together to shoot a trailer pitching their idea to different studio’s…

It of course worked, and on 10.06.08, Mandate Pictures agreed to finance the film.

Surprisingly, this won’t be a Judd Apatow production. Budget is expected to be around $30 million, and a director is currently being sought after.

On 20.01.10, Baruchel joked about the possibilities of dead celebs making cameo’s;

“We kind of have more grandiose ideas for what the feature would be. The one thing that I can say — that was my pitch, my idea, that I think we’ll end up doing, because it would be foolish not to — I want a recurring joke, because it takes place in Los Angeles, and there’s a lot of famous people in Los Angeles, I want a bunch of cameos, but I just want them to be corpses. I want them to be like “oh god there’s Will Smith’s dead body in the corner!” And it would actually be him. So that’s my recurring joke for the movie: I want there to be a lot of dead famous people in it”.
