A very un-Street Fighter looking production still has been released by Capcom Japan, attempting to whet our appetite for the upcoming Street Fighter: Legend of Chun Li movie which see’s Kristin Kreuk lead as the titular Asian warrior.
Sometimes no publicity is ok guys. Could you not have waited until you had something good to show us?
Presumably this still is before she gets her attire and changes her hairstyle because she is suppose to look like this…
Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li will be directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak, who translated the equally popular video game Doom into a crappy movie three years ago. Justin Marks who has sold a ton of script deals for big projects recently (Masters of the Universe, Voltron) wrote the script which stars Kristin Kreuk (Chun-Li), Moon Bloodgood (Maya), Michael Clarke Duncan (Balrog), Neal McDonough (Bison), Chris Klein (Nash) and more.
The movie will open next February.

I repeat for the deaf and the ignorant–she does NOT look Asian. And this movie does not look to have anything going for it.
She does look asian…well half anyway because she is.
She does look it somewhat…Asian at least. I don’t think they would necesarrily have to get an Asian to play the part. We’ll see how it turns out.

Can this really be worse than the one with Van Damme?
I’m skeptical about this movie, but you never know it might turn out to be “alright.” Aside from that there have been other stills and concept art that has been floating around the net.

As for the pic above of Kristin Kreuk I find it somewhat interesting, because it sort of hints at an actual origins story that is not all glamor and too cartoon-ish.
I doubt it will be worse than the original with Van Damme, but then again you never know. :-P
