In one of the strangest superhero casting decisions of all time, a two time Academy Award nominee will play the lead role in a Marvel “funny book” movie. Edward Norton has been cast as The Incredible Hulk!!
WTF? A talented dramatic actor has been given the chance of resurrecting the dead franchise. NO-ONE saw this casting coming, I mean Norton’s a guy who likes to keep himself out of the public eye and often takes up dramatic roles in smaller movies than lead roles in big blockbusters. This is so out of character for the actor.
Variety have the scoop…
“Edward Norton is a rare talent and one of the most versatile actors in the business,” Marvel Studios production president Kevin Feige said in a statement. “His ability to transform into a particular role makes him the ideal choice to take on the character of Bruce Banner and the Hulk. Edward is perfectly suited to bring one of the most popular and important Marvel icons to the bigscreen in a new and exciting way.”
The Transporter director Louis Leterrier will begin shooting the flick this summer in Toronto for a 2008 release.
Color me shocked by this. It’s a strange as hell choice but an intriguing one that’s for sure. He’s probably one of the best actors to ever been given the chance of playing a superhero but the question remains, why did Norton take up the role?

I am really really shocked by this…never though Ed Norton would be that kind of guy/actor!
The only reason I can think of, is that he wants do it like Christian Bale. I mean Bale somehow managed to play one of the biggest action heroes ever on screen, do a great movie (thanks to Christopher Nolan) and still manages to keep himself out of the public eye!
But if the same will work for Norton??? I am not so sure about it, and I hope that this decision will not cost him his career
He’s and everything, but what happen to Eric Bana?
He’s great and everything, but what happen to Eric Bana?
Like everybody else, I’m left completely confused by this choice.
I like the title of this post matt. DOUBLE MEANING!!!
I guess its pretty common though in magazine and newspaper headlines. but still good. i dont like where this movie is going…hulk with eric bana was bad enough.
And considering that he’s so selective about the roles he takes you’d best believe that he must know something we don’t. I was already interested in the new film but now, I’m really on board. As far as I’m concerned, Norton can do no wrong. Let’s just hope he doesn’t make me eat those words anytime soon.
