Well if nothing else, TERMINATOR SALVATION looks a hundred times better than TERMINATOR 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES, we should be thankful of that at least, if not a return to the James Cameron quality of yesteryear.
Without the presence of Arnie, the movie is most definitely a Christian Bale love fest. He is carrying the whole franchise on his shoulders and once again his performance looks strong. I don’t think this movie looks too bad at this point, reminds me an awful lot of REIGN OF FIRE (that other apocalyptic movie Bale did in 2002) crossed with TRANSFORMERS.
Now in my head that doesn’t sound good but on screen it actually looks quite promising. I would have liked to have seen more scope to the picture though and I’m worried that perhaps the movie is going to tell a smaller, more condensed “survival” story which might leave us wanting more?
And here’s another thing for ya. Whenever in James Cameron’s flick they showed the future… wasn’t it always more interesting to see it as a really dark and ash filled wasteland?
Doesn’t this look too bright to work as well?
TERMINATOR SALVATION opens 22nd May 2009 in the U.S. and 5th June in the U.K.

I’m really getting tired of Bale’s growl. It’s the one and only thing that bugged me about THE DARK KNIGHT, and it’s already bugging me in this trailer.
I kinda agree. I think they went overboard with it in TDK. I guess it’s just better for short phrases rather than conversation. His voice in this one sounds better than his Batman voice in TDK, though. Maybe it should’ve been something like that or in the scene where he says, “It’s not who I am…” in BB.
Anyway, the trailer looked cool. I think we’d have to see what they world is like during the day. Plus it shows the war is happening at all times.
