God-Awful! Should have gone with the traditional look of the characters. These guys look like rejects from a bad sci-fi movie.
And yeah I’m sure Sommers and Co were told this is what the military expects US soldiers to be wearing in 20 years, or some other “Force 21″ bullsh*t but even in real life body armor like this doesn’t exist except for product demonstrations by some defense contractor.

Snake Eyes looks pretty good, the Baroness is passable. But everyone else simply looks ridiculous. Especially Scarlett. Form fitting body armor in the form of a double D pair of boobs. Yep, Lorenzo Dumb-aventura is going to make this movie as good as he made Transformers.

From what I hear, the battle suits give them more power.

I thought Snake Eyes would have that material all over his body. He looks like he’s shirtless. I hate it when they put muscles on suits. Now, he looks funny to me. Why not make him look like regular ninja and have him wear some sort of fabric?

Storm Shadow… why not make him look like a ninja too?

Hawk and Covergirl look ok. At least they’re wearing something that’s different.

I guess Baroness isn’t wearing the Cobra symbol since this’ll be an origins story. Would be nice if she had regular glasses.

Of the whole group, the Baroness, Snake-Eyes, General Hawk and Storm-Shadow look the best.

Yes, Storm Shadow. That look is right out of the Devil’s Due comic book. Tim Seeley made Tommy look cool, and it looks as if the costume designers stole that right away from them.

It’s a shame that Devil’s Due is losing the rights to the comics. They have done a much better job at GI Joe than anyone else.

They’ve paid homage to not only the old Marvel comic and the cartoon program, but they’ve expanded upon the world and made a legitimate military action and drama comic book.

And I do agree. I love me some Rachel Nichols, but that costume is ridiculous.

I was very very super-hyped for this movie once i saw snake eyes. But after this CRAP… i am just embarrassed for the film now. A total turnoff. I hope SOMEone from the company is reading this. U know how Everybody criticized Michael Bay for changing up the robots from the comics, and everything turned out ok cuz Bay’s robots were actually cooler? THIS is NOT one of those times. I was interested in how this movie would develope in live action. I was skeptical about some of the casting moves. I was thoroughly jazzed when I saw the first pics of Snake-Eyes. It sank a little when I saw the pic of Scarlet. After seeing these pictures, I’m seriously bummed about the project. Remeber, 50 percent of thes ventures is the look, and, like the very first attempts at live-action Marvel, they’ve screwed it up.

Got to say, I’ve been wanting this film for along time. I thought it would be very very cool to see Joe and Cobra, live-action, the costumes, vehicles, headquarters, firefights, etc. Also to hear ppl using each others codenames: “Hey Duke!”, “Scarlet, let’s kick some snake butt, then go for dinner, what do u say, beautiful?” “Baroness, u sexy girl u, I’m ur slave for life!” “Yo Joe!” “Cobraaaaa!” And of course, “SnakeEyes”: “…..” (Peace sign) Lol! I couldnt WAIT to see the HOT ladies in uniform, DEF a plus! But now, after seeing these pics, I’m thinking its gonna SUCK! And I HATE that! This could be SUCH A COOL, COOL FILM, if the leaders in charge would do it right! I mean its GI JOE, LIVE ACTION!! IT. WOULD. ROCK!! I’m not saying I’m a purist, I know u have to play with everything JUST a little, to make a movie, I think I kinda get that, ok? But still: black armor clothing? Look, just stop the movie for now (dont scrap completely, that would be stupid and a disservice to fans, old and new), but then re do it, THEN shoot it and bring it out. (Armor is fine, if its used for a TINY bit of the movie, for certain terrain, or situations or whatever. But NOT as their MAIN clothing! (Thats like having “Spiderman” ALWAYS in the black suit, (or now the iron one, in the comics, recently), instead of his ACTUAL one!) Different new duds are fine, to spice things up, once in awhile! I have been looking forward to this movie for decades, but I’m afraid a few major mistakes is turning this project into a failure.
First of all – stay true to the comic. G.I Joe is a military unit with most members in green or camo. The black musclesuits shown above makes it look sci-fi – or like both or nothing. Snake-Eyes’ suit pretty much shows the uncertain style. Tight spandex on top and regular military trousers. What is that? Is something wrong with Ray Parks legs or is the line in the movie?
Secondly. I’m European, but please keep the G.I. Joe team American! Thats how I learned to love the guys with all their back stories masterly written by Larry Hama. Thats the spine in the whole G.I. Joe.

Sorry to throw you guys a bit of spoiler info.

Those are BATTLE_SUITS for the climax of the film.
AND black is a USED military uniform status.
The original Joe uniforms were for selling toys purpose. But in a realistic universe that would not be allowed I mean a guy who only wears pants, no shirt, no shoes, all the time.
It worked for the cartoon and the comics for the same reason.
However, in a movie done in a real world style, like the Transformers was done they have to go with what a general auidence would expect, not, unfortunatly, what a fan would want. They are spending big bucks on this film so they have faith in the script and the producers know how to work in the fan hopes where they can.
My hope is that they can have variations on known uniforms to stand out for each character. Gen. Hawks regular uniform is not standard US gear so that should give you a little hope.
Remember, these are early photos. We have seen no vehicles yet and no behind the scenes action pics yet either. I mean look at JJ Abrams Star Trek. Paramount has kept a tight lid on that movie and they are doig the same with this.
It is to give people a sense of surprise when they see the movie.
So don’t cry foul until August next year!

I dont care if these outfits are for halloween, Never make them wear this bullshit again! I can understand if they wore these things UNDERNEATH their NORMAL G.I. Joe outfits. Listen inside man or the people who read this from the studios. The outfits and the uniqueness of each character is what made G.I. Joe special. Not lookin like Xmen part 1 rejects. no need to say what’s already been said. They look bad and the flick will probably be too. I doubt you can put a good plot out when you can’t even get the look of the characters right. But hey did Iron Man rock or what? That had to be the best superhero movie ever made. It’s up there with Supes 1 nd 2 and Spidey 2 and Blade 1 and 2 in fact it was better than all the above.

While I cant say that Im happy about the direction of the team uniforms, I also cant say that they are terrible. They could have been alot worse. Many have said the same thing about individual costumes, but consider this. If the producer/director told costuming to come up with individual looks for each member, can you imagine the disaster this may have created? Yes, yes, just use the characters looks from the books and toons, but do you really think creative costumers when given the green light to make something up would use those? Hell no, they want their own spin and interpretation, so when they are sipping appletinis with their friends they can say “That was me, all my idea” At least with this it was agreed on one outfit and slight variations within it.

If you take a closer look at Scarlet she actually looks like she is wearing the same gear as her toy counterpart just all in black.
The only two that look identical to me are Duke and Ripcord. The two of them could use a bit more customization if you ask me.

Covergirl, well, its not just the costume for me that makes me ill. Its her. I dont find her that attractive. In fact she looks a little ill herself in those pictures. Not at all like she should have been a model turned elite armed forces bad ass.

Hawk, well he is about the hokiest looking one of them all. Its got more to do with his pose than anything though. I just have to keep reminding myself that he isnt going to be posing while on film.

Baroness is spot on. The glasses dont bother me in the least. Again its an interpretation and a fine one at that.

Stormshadow? Well, he looks like a high priced gang member of the yakuza. Which may verywell be where they are heading with him. And thats fine. But if they try to pull post modern ninja with him then i have to call shenanigans. Ninjas in my opinion are supposed to be anonymous. How do you get anonymity? Concealed face. Put a hooded mask on that outfit and it works for me. Otherwise they need to stay away from the ninja clan storyline and just focus on martial arts gang member.

Snake eyes, how hard would it have been to tuck in those damn pants legs? Thats the only thing missing there. Just a little blousing of the pants and viola picture perfect.

Yes the Joes do seem to be going cool black awesomness ala matrix style. But thats not all bad. Lets take a good look back for a moment. How cool were all those individual outfits really? Did we forget the Eco Warriors? Python Patrol? Tiger Force? There were alot of pretty lame color schemes and outfits within the Joe forces and if you tell a costumer and character designer the sky’s the limit and use the source we could end up with a few of the more outlandish costumes instead. How many want to see Airtight and Lifeline on screen? Yeah, Im going to say that the uniformity of them is probably for the best here.

I am, however, anxiously awaiting CC, Destro, and Zartan. These hopefully willshore up and re-establish my faith in this movie and alay all my fears of its potential gheyness.

As a side note, does anyone else feel that this franchise may have missed the boat on a potential cross over with Transformers by not having any of the Army team guys there in this movie?

Man, I think SnakeEyes and Barroness look cool, but everyone else doesn’t look like a ‘real soldiers’ uniy? Or is it me? Now I can understand Storm Shadows’ but everyone else should just be wearing ‘normal Marine/Army’ uniforms’ like on the cartoons’ right? It looks like Battlestarr Galattaca? Which would be fine, BUT THAT’S NOT WHAT THIS IS?
Its a Military movie, I generally LOOOOVE SS’s films, but his take on JOE is totally off so far…man, this so makes me appreciate, (and I can’t believe I’m saying this…Bay’s TFs, at least he tried to make exist in a ‘realworld way’.

Joe is simple- its a military Unit- special ops, really easy to translate to film IMO? All you need is Kelvar costumes peeeooopplee heeellllooooo??? With pockets, and guns? Green & brown camoplaogue, geez!

I think they look OK. Reading all these “it’s gonna SUCK!!!!” comments really reminds me of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Folks need to lay off the caffiene a bit and wait until the movie actually comes out. Or at least pre-bash something worthwhile like the new Trek movie.

As a lifelong G.I. Joe fan, I am fearful that this will turn out to be like Streetfighter. I am looking forward to seeing the first previews of it.I do like the look of the ladies of the film although Scarlett does look a bit strange with her form fitting armor. Storm Shadow, where is his mask? Snake eyes, he looks strange with those pants, they should have made them similar to Dukes. As for Ripcord, as a team uniform it looks fine. The General, well, his uniform could use some work.Hopefully it works out for all of us!

Hey guys like the guy said its the battle suits at the end i read some ware that each of them have at lest 5 outfits in the movie there keeping this movie under wraps to the guys worried about storm shadow not having a make he does i seen a pic of him in that outfit with the mask on and he looks kick ass a bit of all the suits he wore over the years a rumor is going around that we will see scarlett in her yellow and purple suit in the middle of the movie but snake eyes will always be in black the only grip i have about him is if they stucked his pants in his boots hed look really like him. any way i hope this movie kick ass because it centers around storm shadow & snake eyes so it should be cool if they blow up the big screen with a kick ass fight at the end..laters

i know everyone has aready said this but i figured that since this is supposed to be a spin off of the cartoon series they could aleast get the uniforms right. i mean they all look so boring in the exact same uniforms the all black thing is tiring you would think that they would spruse it up some. this is very disappointing i have waited forever for this movie to come out now i don’t really want to go see it let alone own it.and storm shadow doesn’t even look like storm shadow he looks like he just came back from China….this movie is going to be awful…..

I think is a move to sell toys, but the original idea it was too. Personally i enjoyed pretty much the toys and laugh with the animated series (sunbow), i could not see DIC series, but when you took the comics, clasic of marvel or newones of darkhrose, image, devildue, you get other level of viewing, tipical of Marvel.

It is sad that StormShadow plays his role with an uncovered face, cause he knows that show his face will disgrace his family, cause he is in the path of revenge, i think these idea is near to put boobs to the Batman suit, even if the korean public need to see his hero, i think first storm shadow and then the player or changer the player.

The barones is other motive to avoid the movie is so skinny, but she is not the only one, I hope the fx make it a reasonable movie cause tatum sucks, the guy in the role of Cobra Commander suck worse.
