Wolverine will shoot in November

wolverine11123Reports today suggest that the first of two planned X-Men spin-off’s is preparing to begin filming in two months time. That movie of course being Wolverine.

In a change of climate, the movie will shoot in Sydney, Australia rather than Vancouver as the previous three films were.

I have more hope for this movie than any other currently planned in the X-Men cannon.

The guys they have hired have a proven track record. Gavin Hood’s Tsotsi is a great movie (though his latest thriller Rendition looks piss-poor if you ask me) and David Benioff has wrote some decent scripts in his short career (25th Hour, some parts of Troy) though the general word seems to be the script for this is atrocious.

Wolverine and Hugh Jackman were easily the most interesting characters in the X-Men movie universe and a return for Brian Cox should be interesting. I thought he made X-Men 2 and propelled that movie from being a good superhero yarn, to a great one.

So we’ve heard details about both Wolverine and Magneto this week but which X-Men spin-off are you looking forward to the most? Gotta be Wolverine hasn’t it?

  1. Tell me they are going to at least film some parts in Vancouver, this movie is supposed to be told in a cold icy setting, has Australia even had that type of weather?…..I don’t like were this is going.

  2. Wolverine’s the movie I would most want to see, but how excited can I get for a movie with such an iffy group as the creative team.

    I’m not optimistic and frankly I stopped being anywhere near excited for this flick a LONH time ago.

  3. I was hoping that the Magneto spin-off would surface first, but I’m looking forward to seeing Wolverine rip it up. Even though Magneto is my Xer of choice, the return of Hugh Jackman’s Logan should hopefully also be a joy to behold.

  4. Probably Magneto as I loved Sir Ian’s performance and he is a rather noble villian. One spinoff I wouldn’t mind is a Rogue one in which she gets back her powers can fly and meets Gambit.

  5. You know it’s hard for me to pick. They were both good in the x series, but everybody seems to like wolverine and magneto (which is probably why these are going to be made first). Lets see sokme new characters. Maybe a slim and red series, cable, bishop, havok, emma frost, heck do the X-Cutioners Song series. Please please please bring in Gambit. Who cares where they film it. The question is will they do a good job!
