Wolverine director found?

395px-wolverine_origins1.jpgIf they want Wolverine out by next year, then 20th Century Fox are going to have to get a move on with this thing.. it’s June 07 already and a director hasn’t been found. Well maybe until today…

IESB are reporting that Disturbia helmer D.J. Caruso has been offered the gig of directing Wolverine. Caruso’s last film, the unofficial Rear Window remake went down well not just with critics but audiences too and it has become one of the surprise hits of the year.

Caruso is currently in talks with Dreamworks on an unnamed project, so if he can’t do Wolverine (which if he has any % of comic geek in him, he no doubt will do it) their back up plan is to go with Len Wiseman!!!!

Yes the guy who is helming the new Die Hard movie.

Like I say if they are serious about making this thing, then it’s going to have to begin production soon. Personally, I would have gone for a thriller director for this project which should be dark and gritty as hell.

Just don’t go with Wiseman.

  1. Len Wiseman would be my first choice. What was Underworld (1&2) if not a comic book movie? He could handle it.

Though Antoine Fuqua could also pull it off.

  2. I don’t see a problem using Len Wiseman, I thought the Underworld movies were decent and very comic book like. I think he could capture a great tone for the movie, what worries me about this movie is the script, I just hope they get that right.

  3. Wolverine shouldn’t be a comic book movie though. Not really. It should be a dark character based thriller.

I found the Underworld movies visually great but he didn’t know how to tell a story. How much of that was down to the script writers I don’t know.

  4. [...] Earlier this month, we reported that 20th Century Fox had lined up two directors who were their first and second choice to helm the X-Men spin-off movie Wolverine. Fox’s first choice was Disturbia helmer D.J. Caruso who has been jolted into the spotlight now that his last movie did so well at the Box Office. Their back-up plan was said to be Len Wiseman. [...]
