Will Smith’s wife signs The Human Contract

Jada Pinkett SmithJada Pinkett Smith has suffered a few barren few years in the movie industry after the height of her career back in 2004. After a big role in the last two Matrix movies and then a memorable turn in Collateral, she has since only starred in Reign Over Me which despite good reviews, didn’t make much of an impact to do anything for her career.

Well she voiced a character in Madagscar too, but there’s so many animated movies these days that kudos goes to you if you remembered her in that.
So what does Smith decide to do when she isn’t getting the roles?. Well she writers her own feature which she will for Overbrook Entertainment titled The Human Contract.

The flick follows Julian Wright, a mega-successful businessman who hides a secret from the rest of the world which plays on his conscious and tears his soul apart everyday. One day he meets a guy named Michael Reed, a complete stranger who convinces him to forget the corporate life and take up a more bohemian lifestyle.

Sounds like the complete opposite to The Pursuit of Happyness last year, where the premise was the other way around!

Will Jada’s hubby Will Smith end up with the lead role?

Apparently not according to FilmJerk but he will be lending a helpful hand behind the scenes during the production which begins shooting in November in L.A.

source – coming soon

Jada Smith, what an odd bird, especially considering who she’s married to. And while she’s a passable actress (Angela Bassett/Vivica Fox are TONS better than Jada will EVER be) I’ve always said her height is going to limit how far she goes in Hollywood.

Let’s face it in an industry where the average actress must be at LEAST 5′,6″ (though Eva Longoria’s pushing things at 5′,3″) there’s not too many parts out there for a mediocre actress who’s all of five-foot nothing. Doesn’t matter how in-demand her husband is.

And the “plot” for this so-called movie sound exactly like the back cover synopsis for EVERY damned chick-lit novel I see in the book store.

If she’s able to create anything even remotely watchable no one will be more surprised than me! Her flick will most likely be a patchwork quilt of a plot using pieces from several independent films she thought highly of, with the result being a Frankenstein monster of a narrative with a few good parts, lots of dull parts and absolutely no cohesive parts.
Safe to say we can skip this one sight-unseen. Would that it remain that way.
