A while ago an extra on INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL talked to his local paper about a scene he filmed with Harrison Ford. Tyler Nelson, who played “Dancing Russian Soldier” in the film, revealed the following plot details:
Indy and the Soviet army are both searching for a priceless skull made of crystal in the jungles of South America.
The Russians take Indy hostage and then blackmail him by threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend and mother of his son, Marion Ravenwood.
Cate Blanchett plays an evil Russian who grills Indy. “I saw Harrison Ford strapped to a chair and being interrogated,” Nelson told the paper.
These spoilers are fairly tame in comparison with, say, the earlier JUSTICE LEAGUE spoilers, but that hasn’t stopped Steven Spielberg getting angry and firing Nelson from the movie.
“Who knows whether that particular person will ever work in this town again?” said Martin Levy, a spokesman for Spielberg.
It seems Spielberg and George Lucas have a good cop/bad cop thing going on. Spielberg is playing the hardass as he doesn’t want any details leaked at all. Whereas Lucas has been through the STAR WARS prequels dealing with the ultra-obsessive net crowd and thinks Spielberg should let some of these things slide.
I feel a little sorry for Nelson in this. Sure, he shouldn’t have done it, but this probably means he’ll be ILM’d out of the film and will never get to tell his friends and family about how he once shared the screen with Indiana Jones.

How can you feel sorry for this Nelson guy!!? He’s a major douche for going around telling those spoilers, even if they weren’t major. Hell, i didn’t know beforehand that Cate Blanchette was playing a russian villain, so technically that spoiled me…since the only way i wouldve found out was when the first trailer came out…
Anyways, main thing is…nobody can feel sorry for this guy. He was going out of his way(and his stipulated contract as an extra) blabbering to others about what was happening in an incredibly big-budget hollywood movie. I think what Steven Spielberg did was the right thing. Heck! How could anyone not agree with him and just accept that fact that this extra guy is blabbering insider information. I’m damn glad he got fired, and i hope he doesn’t see the light of day in any other movies.
And as for the “ILM”ing him out of the movie, two thumbs up for that! What that guy did doesn’t deserve to share the screen with Indiana Jones. Screw his “amazing tale” that he will never get to tell to his family and friends…he’s an idiot and should be punished for what he did, which was justifiably done by Spielberg. And for someone like Lucas,(who was such a hard-ass stickler for info getting out on his sw: prequel films), i’m really surprised that he’s telling Spielberg to loosen the grip and let these things slide. That doesn’t sound like him…if it was his movie, i think george lucas would go to far lengths to exile this guy. That’s it.

I understand you might not like spoilers. But that’s the nature of the net and everyone knows it. People who actively seek out spoilers are minuscule compared to those who see the movie in total, so why fire the guy?
It’s not like he broadcast the spoilers on prime time tv. He made an error, there was absolutely nothing of significance at stake, it doesn’t matter. Give the guy a bollocking and let that be the end of it.
Besides, this is just a movie, there are more important things. A stunt man died on The Dark Knight set and if that doesn’t put movies into perspective I don’t know what will.

I don’t think this is a surprice to some people. I’m pretty sure that when he signed his contract, there were some little lines there about not commenting on any plop details, even the smallest they were. So naturaly, when he broke that agreement, he is out of the picture for good

I’m imagining this extra in the desperate predicament posed at the end of Temple of Doom. Dr. Jones has the blabbing little buggar by the scuff of the neck as he scratches for the stones of glory. “You have offended Shiva and hundreds of thousands of movie fans!” proclaims Indy. Following this comes some sacred tongue, the extra burns his fingers as he goes for the bag of stones and falls down into the chasm for gruesome croco-death. Justice!
