So, just what are the best and worst movies of the year so far? Personally, my top 5 would include (in no order) Hot Fuzz, Grindhouse, Zodiac, 28 Weeks Later and Apocalypto (2007 for U.K.) although that could change greatly by the end of the year as there are so many movies I haven’t seen yet.

The worst film I’ve seen this year, easily been The Wedding Daze but at least I was invited to it for free so it was a little easier to stomach.

Rotten Tomatoes have released their annual mid-year report telling us what the Top 10 best reviewed and the Top 10 worst reviewed movies of the year are so far.

Best Reviewed Movies

1. Ratatouille
2. Away From Her
3. Once
4. Knocked Up
5. Hot Fuzz
6. Sicko
7. The Host
8. Zodiac
9. Waitress
10. The Lookout

Worst Reviewed Movies

1. Because I Said So
2. The Number 23
3. Premonition
4. The Reaping
5. Norbit
6. Perfect Stranger
7. Happily N’Ever After
8. Are We Done Yet?
9. Code Name: The Cleaner
10. Hannibal Rising

So there you have it. The web is buzzing over Ratatouille right now and October 5th can’t come quick enough for me, as that’s the date it hits British shores.

Remember, these are not marked on reviews from the average joe. This isn’t IMDB or anything where anyone can vote, these are all well respected and usually paid journalists for trade newspapers or internet sites so to see so many comedy movies on the list is quite surprising. Not that I’m complaining of course, as Hot Fuzz was an amazing little flick and I can’t wait to see Knocked Up too as that trailer made me laugh more than most things this year.

It will be interesting to see what this list looks like by the end of the year when all the Oscar potential drama’s are released, and many of these movies are likely to be bumped off.

Hannibal Rising…it was definitely shit. Although you should never trust movie critics ;) Anyway I haven’t seen a lot of most of those films.

I actually thought Hot Fuzz was quite poor, while The Reaping I found very enjoyable.
