We really should have seen this coming… JLA comes clearer…

We probably should have all seen this coming weeks ago and now things are starting to make a lot more sense in regards to the possible intentions of Warner Brothers in regards to the Justice League of America movie which has been all the talk around the web over the last week or so.

And this pretty much changes the whole situation for this movie.

IESB who are the main source in regards to all this JLA information are spreading the rumor that this JLA movie will actually be shot in CGI and motion capture, the same technique that Robert Zemeckis has been playing around with in his recent movies The Polar Express, Beowulf and the early in production, A Christmas Carol.

This would of course allow the Batman and Superman franchises to continue the direction they are going in. It would explain how casting could easily begin next week as they will only be looking for voice actors and those with the builds to mold into the character look they desire (by the way Kevin Conroy MUST be Batman). It would explain why George Miller, the director of Happy Feet looks to have been given the job of directing.

And most importantly of all, it would explain how this type of movie could work because essentially this motion capture technique could be a comic book brought to life. The only limits in scope and imagination are the limits in the director’s and the creative talent’s involved minds, because they can create anything.

Now we can rest in easy thinking about how Batman and Superman can occupy the same place, as it won’t be big men in costumes.

If your a superhero fan, you should be really excited about this. It means we could see Batman in his real classic blue and grey costume. Everything from the comics, including the look of the character, can easily be translated to the big screen and it won’t interfere with what Christopher Nolan is doing with the Batman franchise because the difference will be easy to distinguish.

Of course this would mean the movie won’t be out by 2009. Your probably talking 2010 at the earliest but if production begins as quickly as they say, then I don’t see why it couldn’t make the summer of 2010.

I think this is a superb idea. The technology has yet to be used in a manner that justifies it’s usage, but this project would seem to be one that needs it to succeed. This could be the purest comic book adaptation that there has ever been. A real comic book brought to life, even more so than Sin City back in 2005.

No need to worry, or hate on this movie now. This only has plus points for me.

CGI would work for me actually and will allow Nolan and Singer to carry on their visions. If true then this is the way forward.

Excellent news, just as long as all the comic book heroes aren’t turned into creepiefied Polar Express style visions.

Everyone can calm down now. This is something to look forward to.

My, my, my, didn’t I tell you to give this film a chance before you dog it out? Seems I was right after all, and the whiners were wrong…as usual. I hope the folks who were so unreaosnably paranoid about the prospects for this film “ruining” the Nolan-directed franchise (and keep in mind it’s only Nolan-DIRECTED, not Nolan owned) though somebody else needs to be brought in to take the reigns from Singer’s incompetent little fingers. Don’t the naysayers feel a little silly after all the pre-emptive bitching they did? I’ll bet they do.

I recall a while back, though it feels like just yesterday, that somebody was telling people to stop whining and let’s wait until we actually find out a thing or two about this film before we praise or dog it out. I also recall a fool’s gallery of folks thinking themselves so smart because they could express their unbounding passion for all things Nolan.

I also remember trying to talk some sense into these foolish folks, but to no avail. I never judge any film until I acutally find out a thing or two about it. There’s no such thing as “too soon” for a well-executed idea. The whiners also disputed that as well.

You’ll forgive me if I say, I told you so!

If this movie is in CGI, and doesn’t interfere with the Batman and Superman franchises, then I’m all for it. I’m at a bit of a loss at to why they didn’t come out and say this in the first place. Then again, everything about JUSTICE LEAGUE has been rumor upon rumor really.

Jaysmack– You’re acting like a jerk. Plain and simple. You’ve done nothing but insult people and behave like a child on here. Your argument that Bale wasn’t needed obviously isn’t how Warner Bros. felt, or they’d be doing this film live action. And this now keeps that Superman sequel on schedule, which I’m sure is driving you crazy.

Bottom line, it would be cool if you learned how to express your opinion without being overbearing and rude about it. It’s not like you had some knowledge that this would be CGI, and many people still disagree with you on your feelings about Chris Nolan and Superman Returns. You thought it would be okay to do a Justice League movie with Bale and Routh. You thought it didn’t matter to worry about what the makers of the Batman and Superman franchise would think of a JL film. Two points I and other disagree with you on. And it’s fine for you to have differing opinions, but you really ought to express them in a way that shows you have some semblance of manners. Treating people with a modicum of respect is an important thing in life.

Scramble Network–

“Treating people with a modicum of respect is an important thing in life.”
Yes, it is. What a shame you didn’t take your own advice before you began your post by calling me a jerk.
OK, you decided to sound off -now it’s my turn.

You are a jerk, plain and simple. You don’t have to like that I was right, and you were dead wrong, but whose fault it that? I told you not to judge the JLA movie until we actually had some facts first. But you just leapt right in. You didn’t care what the merits of the idea were, you just decided you were against it. Make no mistake, you’re the only jerk on this board, and certainly the biggest whiner. So don’t even try to get self-righteous.
You didn’t offer even half a cogent argument before you tore into the JLA simply because it was being proposed! You were the one speaking on an issue you knew nothing about, not me. My point was that Bale/Routh would have been great, or recasting would have been great, so long as the script is strong and they choose the right director. I’m not a fan of JLA, but I was supporting the IDEA of a JLA movie, not neccessarily endorsing any particular way the movie should be made. And I was asking people like you to WAIT. Instead you just assumed all sorts of things-all of which have proven to be wrong. Now I’m the jerk? Stuff a sock in it Junior, you’re out of your league.
Piece of advice: Learn to hold your tongue. It will certainly make the world a better place. At the very least you’ll be able to avoid these embarrassing little moments.

So it’s a cartoon. Well, that’s certainly good news. Stay away from Nolan’s interpretation, it deserves to play out on it’s own without the confusion of two Batman’s. A cartoon/animated film definitely creates a large separation between the two franchises, JLA and Batman Begins/Dark Knight.

This news is certainly out of left field. I bet the studio either felt the confusion of two Supermans/Batmans running around the silver screen, or realized how damn expensive this was going to be. If it cost over $200 million to get Spidey and villian/s to jump around onscreen, how much would the CGI budget for a live action feature be to get the entire JLA and villians running around on screen?

I wonder how heavily this will be marketed towards the younger set?

Oh, and JaySmack, Scramble Network is right, your acting like a jerk, right or wrong. We were all worried about a live action feature because that’s how it was presented in the reports. We’re all relieved it’s animated, our concerns are relieved.
