Now there’s a film title to get assess in seats. The Hollywood Reporter say Warner Bros. have acquired the screen rights to Drink, Play F@#k, a male comedic retort to the best selling female driven book Eat, Pray, Love, of which it shares no official connection.
I.E. – it’s not a sequel to that book, which itself is already being setup as a movie at Brad Pitt’s Plan B at Paramount with Julia Roberts attached to star since October 2006.
Andrew Gottlieb’s upcoming novel follows Bob Sullivan, a guy who seeks solace after his wife leaves him, journeying on a bender in Ireland, a gambling session in L.A. and a sex hunting tourism trip to Thailand.
The novel should hit stands early next year but is now available to pre-order at Amazon.
In comparison, the memoirs from Elizabeth Gilbert – Eat, Pray, Love – focuses on an author’s journey of peace through several stages of living after a painful divorce. More dramatic than comedic, she seeks culinary solace in Italy, spiritual healing in Indiana and a romantic respite in Indonesia.
Interesting to see which of the two similar sounding books gets made first, being a guy I’m more inclined to hope I get to enjoy Drink, Play, F@#k sometime soon.
