WACO movie

The general consensus on this one seems to be… about time.

Variety report that Brit director Rupert Wainwright (Stigmata, The Fog redo) is directing a $30 million moive about the 1993 stand-off at Waco, Texas - when the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives attempted to arrest David Koresh, leader of the Branch Davidian cult which led to over 80 deaths.

The incident dominated the news in 1993.

You can read more about the incident HERE.

Mike McNulty, who produced the 1997 documentary, Waco: The Rules of Engagement - will co-produce this new feature.

Don’t know anything about the incident, it was well before I became politically or socially aware of such events although browsing the web it’s pretty clear it was a massive deal and still carries much anger among many people. Really surprised this hasn’t already made it’s way to film…
