Vin Diesel, who eventually decided to return to the FAST AND FURIOUS franchise for a princely paycheck earlier this year (due out in 2009), has agreed a similar deal to return for a third XXX movie. Diesel originally spurned the opportunity of starring in the first sequel to the 2002 Columbia Pictures $277 million worldwide hit three years ago.
You may remember it was Ice Cube who took over the reigns for what was one of the worst movies of that year. Rob Cohen, the director of the original has also agreed a return and the movie even has a title… XXX: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE, it’s just they don’t have a script yet say Variety.
The original which was dubbed “Bond for the new Millennium” starred Diesel as Xander Cage, an extreme sports enthusiast who gets drafted by the government for a dangerous mission. Samuel L. Jackson and Asia Argento co-starred in the original and Jackson even returned for it’s sequel.
Now if I remember rightly, didn’t they mention that Diesel’s character had unceremoniously been killed as a way of spiting the actor for not returning for it’s sequel?

Jackson is just playing Nick Fury basically. And yeah, they did mention that Diesel died in the second movie. it’ll prolly be like a building exploded and they simply thought he was dead. I like Vin, so i’ll see it.
For some reason, I dug XXX when it came out. However, on the special edition DVD there is a feature which depicts the unceremonious death of the main character. It was done in such a way that it was an obvious send up of Vin Diesel, and as an audience member, I felt betrayed. What the fuck was the point of the whole movie if you’re going to kill the lead in a bullshit featurette? I’d love to see how they bring him back, but this kind of childish spite, and monetary desperation makes me not care in the least.

If diesel returns for no. 3 I wuldn’t even bother watching it. Hes meant to be dead in no. 2 man. And come on, I think sumone new shuld be given a chance. It’s just gonna get boring if the same guy keeps cumin over again and again. I thought the first movie was shit anyways. I definielty thought xxx2 was way better (more attitude). They better not put him back on for the third one.
I am very excited to hear that there will be another XXX movie. I loved the first one, and even the second for the exception that Ice Cube was in it.
