Perelman to direct Jolie in Atlas Shrugged.

200px-atlas_shrugged_cover.jpgLionsgate have hired House of Sand and Fog director Vadim Perelman to re-write and helm Atlas Shrugged, a movie adaptation of Ayn Rand’s 1,100 page novel from 1957. Lionsgate want around 10% of that length on screen, requesting Perelman to fine tune the script to a 127 pages.

Angelina Jolie will star in the movie that revolves around what happens when great industrialists and thinkers go on strike and the world grinds to a halt. Kind of ironic considering what might happen in the movie industry itself next summer.

The last script for the movie was written by Braveheart scribe Randall Wallace who will apparently be kept on as a script consultant.

A movie adaptation of Atlas Shrugged has been thirty years in the making and this is just the latest in a long line of developments. Will it finally happen this time?

Who knows. House of Sand and Fog was a pretty fine film, so at least they have hired a guy with a good degree of talent and Jolie can act when she wants too. Just don’t hire Brad Pitt for this project as well please!
