Director John Singleton really isn’t getting much luck lately is he?
First he’s involved in an automobile accident after a women decided to commit suicide by jumping in front of his car in L.A. I mean that type of thing is enough to scar a person for life and now comes word that his next movie Tulia, starring Halle Berry and Billy Bob Thornton has been scrapped.
The reason being Berry’s recently announced pregnancy reports TMZ through Film Ick.
It’s been reported that after she’s had her child the movie might be picked up again and put into development once again but at this point Tulia won’t be made. The movie was based on a non-fiction book where Berry would portray the lead attorney for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, which intervened to free the citizens wrongly convicted based on one crooked cop’s testimony.
So Singleton is now out of work for no fault of his own. Could he once again attempt to bring the superhero Luke Cage to the big screen?

Singleton’s Tulia couldn’t have been much a tale if it hinged on Halle Berry’s involvement. She’s a blah actress at best. She really can’t act. I’d cast Vivica Fox, Thandie Newton (groan all you want, I LOVE her) or better yet Nia Long! Hell, give an unknown actres a chance. Berry was unknown until Spike Lee’s Jungle Fever.
And as for Singleton directing Cage. I already gave that idea thumbs down. If he seriously thinks Tyrese Gibson could be Cage then it’s past time he got out of moviemaking. Cage has to be a man-mountain, tall, (which Tyson is NOT!) intelligent (which Tyson definitely isn’t!) charasmatic ANd he has to be strong. Tyson works out, but he can’t be Cage. The part needs to go to an older actor.
My choice for Cage? Terry Crews. He’s a former football player turned actor, and after White Chicks, and Idiocracy he showed he can do more than be the big muscle guy in the bachground. The fact Singleton can’t figure out what age Cage is, or what his qualities are disqualifies him right there
