David Fincher’s next film will probably be TORSO, the adaptation of the Image Comics series that revolves around the real life investigator Elliot Ness, solving the “Torso Murders” of 1934 to 1938.
Ness was of course Kevin Costner’s character in Brian De Palma’s 1987 classic, THE UNTOUCHABLES.
Similar to Fincher’s ZODIAC, the comic revolves around the investigation and hunt to track down the serial killer terrorising, in this case, the Cleveland Area. The killer would leave ONLY the torso’s of his victims, thus making them nearly unidentifiable before DNA testing.
Producer Bill Mechanic says filming could begin as early as March and says the rumor of Matt Damon playing Ness is “probably true”. Great casting choice I’d say, he certainly has the same qualities Costner brought to the role in the 80’s.
Furthermore, Mechanic claims Ehren Kruger’s screenplay takes many diversions from the series and may even go by a new title.

Fincher’s THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON opens this Christmas.
