Timing feels wrong for a Teen Titans movie

2194230_55a59581d8.jpgThe Hollywood Reporter say that a Teen Titans movie is being developed over at Warner Brothers. With this movie, a Justice League movie and an Avengers movie in the works, doesn’t this feel a little to much?

A couple more years of individual superhero movies and the audience might be ready for this type of team-up but not now. Let’s bring The Green Arrow and The Flash to the big screen first before we get a Justice League or Teen Titans movie.

Akiva Goldmsman the writer of BATMAN AND ROBIN is producing the movie alongside Kerry Foster with Smallville writer Mark Verheiden on board to scribe. The movie will be a live-action one.

For those who don’t know the difference… Justice League is for the established superheroes to fight crime and the Teen Titans are usually for their sidekicks.

The Teen Titans first appeared in 1964 as a sort of junior Justice League, comprising Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, Wonder Girl and Speedy, the respective sidekicks of A-list heroes Batman, Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman and Green Arrow.

The comic series reached X-Men-style success in the 1980s, when the team was relaunched in a new comic with the characters no longer kids but college-age adults and the stories explored more mature themes. The series also saw the addition of Cyborg, Starfire and Raven, original characters who weren’t sidekicks, while the character of Robin matured into one called Nightwing.

It seems to me that Marvel and DC are going head-to-head to see who can get a superhero team-up movie under way first. I’m not sure any of us are ready for it yet, although to be fair will a “teen superhero team-up movie” ever get you excited?

This movie is no needed. I don’t think the general public would be interested in a Teen Titans live action movie. I’ve seen (and own) every Animated Batman, Superman, and Justice League episode from Warner Bros, but I’ve never been interested in Teen Titans (seems to much like Anime to me).

You’re right that a teem up movie is coming to come from either Marvel or DC. I would love to see a live action Justice League film, or an Ultimate Alliance (Marvel film). I think too much money would be needed to bring a successful film to the screen. So maybe Teen Titans is the shortcut (younger actions would equal a smaller budget). I don’t know, I probably wouldn’t see it.

I can’t imagine any movie that Akiva Goldsman writes would be of any quality. This is the guy who wrote Batman & Robin, and Batman Forever for God’s sake. He wrote the screeplay fot The Chamber, Lost In Space and a ton of other crap. Has this guy written anything worth watching? No.

He nearly killed the comic book movie ten years ago. Now he’s back to finish the job.

We certainly owe a lot to Bryan Singer and the team that worked on X-Men because your right comic book movies were dead at the turn of the century because of Goldsman, Schumacher and crew.

Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!We need a Teen Titans movie!I love the show,Robin,Beast Boy,Starfire,Raven & Cyborg are awesome. They gotta make a version of the new age though,The characters from the TV show on Cartoon Network,The show was very popular,But they only had 6 seasons & 52 episodes. The Titans are kinda forgotten,They guys making the movie need to refresh everyone’s memory! But they don’t need to make the 60’s & 80’s version,They need to make the most recent one,Based from the TV show! The version that has Robin,Starfire,Beast Boy,Raven & Cyborg. They GOTTA throw in :Terra,Slade,Cinderblock,Overload,Plasmus,Gizmo,& Trigon too!Who knows,Maybe there will be a sequel to throw in other characters?
