Tim Burton’s SWEENEY TODD trailer hits the web

sweeneytodd

Earlier today we announced that you would be able to catch the SWEENEY TODD trailer before screenings of THE HEARTBREAK KID this weekend. While that is still true, why would you waste money on that Ben Stiller tripe when you can watch is for free online?

Yahoo! movies have published the 2 minutes 30 second trailer online for your viewing pleasure, including all the usual HD formats as well as lower quality for you poor folks on dial-up.

Download the HD here.

What do you make of Depp’s singing voice? Does this look cool or has Burton’s quirkiness just gone a little bit too ‘out-there’?

  1. Extremely exciting! It looks fantastic and suitably Burtonesque; it could be Burton’s maddest masterpiece to date. High hopes, but yes it looks cool!

  2. Are they trying to hide the fact that this is a musical?

  3. Well…

I gotta say don’t watch the youtube version guys, give it a go in the HD.

Still, there’s a point where the gloomy atmosphere goes dull and I fear this is one of those occassions. I hate the way this movie is shot, I thought he would have gone for a From Hell colour scheme.

Depp’s signing is fine but it’s just the placement. He’s over-acting again, and like I said earlier his performances look awkward when they aren’t placed in the right context.

Looks pretty damn awful to me and a really tough sell with the general public.
