Charlize Theron, Colin Farrell, Ralph Fiennes and Willem Dafoe are all set to topline Kathryn Bigelow’s latest action/drama The Hurt Locker.
More info from Coming Soon…
The Hurt Locker follows the exploits of an elite bomb disposal unit. Forced to play a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse in the chaos of war, an elite Army bomb squad unit must come together in a city where everyone is a potential enemy and every object could be a deadly bomb.
Bigelow, a rare female director who helms big action movies is said to have co-wrote the script with war reporter Mark Boal, who has just come off writing In The Valley of Elah with writer/director Paul Haggis, which Theron is also set to star in.
This sounds like it has a ton of potential. and with the talent involved (well except for Colin Farrell) it should make for powerful and thrilling stuff.
Principal photography is set to begin in late Spring.

Indeed this sounds very interesting (as long as it doesn’t get to American patriotic and so cheesy)
But I have to comment on your comment about Colin Farrell…I know he isn’t the best actor in the world, but he nevertheless has his good moments. I really liked his performance in ‘The New World’, which was a very nuanced performance. He was also great in ‘Phone Booth’, ‘A Home At the End Of the World’ and ‘The Recruit’.
He put me to sleep in The New World, but I do put half of that down to Terrence Malik’s way of shooting. The other half was certainly Farrell though!
I agree he was fine in Phone Booth and The Recruit actually, but I’m not sure how far those perfomances really pushed his acting talents. Minority Report was the same.
Never seen A Home At The End Of the World, but in Miami Vice, Alexander and Ask the Dust he was horrid.
Well I loved ‘The New World’, one of my fav movies of all the time…but you’re right, he wasn’t really good in ‘Ask the Dust’ and ‘Alexander’ but both movies weren’t that great either.
I liked ‘Miami Vice’ and I thought that the chemistry between Farrell and Li Gong was absolutely stunning! So I liked his performance there.
‘A Home At the End Of the World’ is okay, but his and Robin Wright Penn’s performance make the movie worth watching it
