John Carpenter’s superb horror movie The Thing has been long discussed as remake/sequel/prequel potential but so far nothing has come to fruition.
Well until now that is as various rumours over the Internet are speculating that a prequel movie is in the works, with the studio’s on the hunt for a script writer.
Normally this type of news would leave a bad taste in my mouth but the fact that the studio behind the prequel is Strike Entertainment (who were responsible for the better than expected Dawn of the Dead remake), there’s a chance it could turn out pretty good.
Anyone hopeful of this remake being half decent? Anyone else think the original is pure cinematic genius?

As far as making a re-make of the John Carpenter Mental & Visual Masterpiece, wich tried to follow the original short story, “WHO GOES THERE”. I think and have always thought about this since this film came out, that a sequel where the Alien entity got back to civilization. Imagine, every single little insect or living matter could & WOULD be absorbed. It already was timed by Blair that it would only take 27,000 Hrs. to infect the whole human race. Just by human interaction. LET ALONE ,…”BACTERIA”? Think about it! As I hope Rob Zombie does a excellent job with Halloween, I would also hope the same for ANYONE trying to match the endless possibilities and superb way in wich, you really don’t know who could be infected, at any time!
