THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG trailer!

Disney are back with their first animated feature made in the style that made the company famous and the huge giant of business it is today.

The movie is The Princess and the Frog which follows a young black Princess who lives in the New Orleans’ French Quarter during the jazz age, and is a animated musical fairytale.

The film is the first time in Disney’s history that a black woman is the lead character. Watch the trailer below but don’t get too excited about it, we won’t be able to see it until Christmas 2009!

Ah, I loved the beginning – we can always trust Disney to blend music and images.

Trailer made me smile, love to see Disney take this kind of animation seriously again, and I know this will find an audience. It’s from the team who brought us Aladdin and The Lion King – these guys know exactly what they are doing.

Story and characters are key and if they get that right in the next trailer, this could make serious cash.

That’s not black, that’s caramel or something. When are these studios going to grow the f**k up and stop putting on these shams where “black” is some light-skinned character?

I know asking them to stop the “blacks can’t be dark-skinned” nonsense is like asking a junkie to quit crack cold turkey but it’s WAY past time they did it.

I’m sure we’ll see come dark-skinned characters. They just won’t be the main. Maybe some old guy she sees on the street.

she looks black to me. african americans come in all colors. have you ever been to new orleans? there are black people that look white as snow all the way to being black as night! your ignorance is shocking.

I agree with “huh?”, my mother is one of those african americans that looks white. If it wasn’t for her hair, everyone would think she was white. I for one, am glad Disney is finely making a black princess.

I could give a crap if she was purple, as long as it’s a good movie. I’m excited that it’s from the same directors as The Little Mermaid and Aladdin, and that it’s a return to beautiful 2D animation instead of another cheap-looking, overblown CGI abomination.

Oh stop being a crybaby, Jaysmack
“That’s not black enough, BOOHOO.”
Black people come in different skin tones, douchebag.

This is how white supremacy works;create a circumstance in which “Negroes” cut and snipe at each other while both progressive and intransigent white folks are entertained by their foolishness. Soooo predictable.
