Firstshowing.net have got a confirmed report from 20th Century Fox that a remake of the science fiction classic The Day The Earth Stood Still is in the works for a release sometime next year.
No cast or director are attached as of yet, but a release of May 9th is being touted around.
Man, do we really need a remake of this classic?
The Robert Wise original is great and a perfect product of the 1950’s time period that it was produced under. Sure a remake could work, but if Steven Spielberg couldn’t even make a great War of the Worlds movie (although I did like it quite a bit) then what hope do we have for this?
