SUNDANCE CLIPS: FEAR OF THE DARK

So Sundance is vastly approaching and the press clips and buzz are starting to fester around some of the movies.

Remember last year’s festival saw movies like ONCE (which was 6th on my top ten of the year), IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOON (great documentary), GRACE IS GONE (yet to see) and ROCKET SCIENCE in competition… all of which got a theatrical run of note last year.

So here’s the first movie we are going to give a little coverage to. It’s FEAR OF THE DARK (PEUR DU NOIR), a French animated film from as many as 8 different directors according to it’s IMDB entry.

Looks really, really cool… like a weird Tim Burton movie with a score right out of SIN CITY. As good as it looks, the question must be would you really pay to see a movie that looked like this?

Six graphic artists and cartoonists have breathed life into their nightmares, bleeding away color only to retain the starkness of light and the pitch black of shadows. Their intertwined stories make up an unprecedented epic where phobias, disgust and nightmares come to life and reveal Fear at its most naked and intense.
