Two Steve Carell stories in one post for you on this rather gloomy Thursday morning.

First up, Jay Roach’s (AUSTIN POWERS, MEET THE PARENTS) comedy DINNER FOR SCHMAUCKS will film in October according to Variety

Steve Carell and Paul Rudd, two stars of THE 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN will lead the comedy that sees Carell play the most pathetic guest to ever grace one man’s weekly dinner gathering.

Sacha Baron Cohen was once set to star in what is a remake of a French 1998 comedy written and directed by Francis Veber but when Dreamworks/Paramount split, he bailed on the project. The project is now with Spyglass Entertainment/Paramount… though Dreamworks still have a 33% stake in the film and it’s profits.

Carell and Rudd = Laughs a plenty as far as I’m concerned and I’ve enjoyed more Jay Roach movies than I’ve hated, that’s for sure.

And the second Steve Carell story from the trades today is that he has struck a deal with Warner Bros. to star and produce HI-T, the comedy that revolves around a man dealing with uncontrollable mood swings after an injury forces him to take testosterone injections.

LICENSE TO WED writer Kim Barker is scripting.

Let’s hope that one doesn’t get made.
