Spielberg has “cracked the story” and is “gearing up” INDIANA JONES V!

We’ve gone from the “think mode” comments in October to having now “cracked the story” in June, as Shia LaBeouf claims Steven Spielberg told him personally before he went on press for Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen that the new Indiana Jones movie is “gearing up”.

LaBeouf spilled it to BBC News

Not that I think anyone cares anymore, surely the time has passed on this series now?

Was the final scene of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull the passing of the torch to LaBeouf as the fedora fell to his feet?

Will Harrison Ford, recently named by Forbes as the highest earning man of the past year in Hollywood for reportedly accepting a $65 million deal to star in the last movie and Crossing Over, even be a part of this picture? (of course he will).

Can anyone be duped again by George Lucas?

Remember when Spielberg was actually significant in modern day film-making? Do you not remember how great Munich was just four years ago, or how fun Catch Me If You Can was?

Why isn’t he making INTERSTELLAR SCRIPTED BY JONATHAN NOLAN… and giving us the kind of film that made him the king of Hollywood.

Spielberg, seriously, give Sony a call and tell them you wanna be involved in Bond 23. You have options mate, you don’t have to make this movie. Think about your legacy for God’s sake!

Spielberg’s star has SERIOUSLY fallen. It’s bad enough that he seems to have lost his mojo.

But the double whammy of alinging himself with the most ridiculous hack in the business (Bay) and trying to manufacture Shemale LaBoof into a “star” is too much.
Bay is a music video director whose “career” should have been over in the 90s and Shia is a vapid, overhyped, undertalented wannabe character actor. He’s not deep enough for acting, not smart enough and damn sure not handsome enough. He has ZERO tools in his box.

That Spielberg has tried so hard to GIVE this guy every role he can shows Spielberg doesn’t have an eye for talent. From Tom Hanks to Oliver Twisted. Sad to see a great talent reduced to this.

Really?
You think Indie was THAT bad?
It wasn’t the same as old, granted. And that damn monkey scene? Terrible.
But to say you would prefer Spielberg to go from one series (Indie) which has admittedly seen better day, but is no where near depleted of story, to another (bond) which lets be honest, is doing fine since it’s last revamp and doesn’t really need Spielberg refresh it. Personally I think he would do a terrible job on it anyway. He’s never really been one for character development, and the way Bond is going atm it’s all about the character development.
After OHMSS with George Lazenby did you write off bond? Probably, but did it come back better? Yes.
Give Spielberg and Lucas another shot. Indy 4 really wasn’t THAT bad.

“alinging himself with the most ridiculous hack in the business (Bay)”
“Bay is a music video director whose “career” should have been over in the 90s”

You mean the guy that puts asses in seats and has made over 1 billion dollars through his films? Yea, who let this guy make films, obviously THEY didn’t know what they were doing.

Also, LaBeouf has the one main thing all actors can’t get by without – charisma. He entertains on screen. You like and empathize with his characters.
Could he do a 180 and play a villain? Probably not. Give the guy a chance, he’s still very early in his career. Depth is something actors develop with age. Also smart and handsome are pretty pointless comments as you don’t need either to be an actor.

I will never understand why Michael Bay does not get much credit. If you think The Rock is a hack film, good luck to you sir in your film critic career.

What a load of bollocks ! Speilberg doing Bond, I fucking hate Bond and I dont think he could bring anything to that stinking franchise.
I dont think the last Indy film was that bad actually and i’m old enough to remember going to the cinema to see the first one! ok, it’s not the greatest film ever but certainly not the worst for fuck’s sake.
bearing in mind that speilberg is a long way past his creative best (usually an artist’s first 20 years) and is still making pretty good films.

Chase – personally I think Bay’s films are of varying quality, there are some solid enough (but generally vapid) blockbusters and there was a time when I quite liked Bad Boys (Freeze mother-bitches!) but I can’t stand the guy for one reason.

I hope Spielberg retires from the INDY series.
It’d be refreshing to have a new Director bring a new vision to an old franchise. And I would like to see something new from Mr. Spielberg other than another lame INDY movie. Spielberg needs to make his LINCOLN movie and stay away from LUCAS.
