band_of_brothers03.jpgBand of Brothers was an amazing achievement from Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, a rare multi episode project where each and every episode is of the highest quality. They all tell a different story, each gripping and moving in their own way. It’s a testament to how great the series is that it’s IMDB rating is still 9.6 after over 32, 783 votes.

This August, filming will begin on The Pacific, a 10 part mini-series on a budget of $150 million developed by HBO and Dreamworks who brought us the 2001 epic series. The Pacific will focus on the battles around Pacific Theatre during WWII and will film in Melbourne and other area’s of Australia for a whole 12 months.

280 Australian actors will be employed and hundreds more extra’s for the ensemble project which should see at least 20 lead actors cast.

I know we don’t usually talk about T.V. projects here at Obsessed With Film but this is a project that I think I will cover quite extensively over the summer. How can we not, if it’s only half as good as Band of Brothers… it will easily be the best thing on T.V.
