So the brand new trailer for Spider-Man 3 is up for your viewing pleasure. It’s obvious that the third movie is going to be about revenge and contain a much darker tone than the two previous movies. And what’s with The Sandman killing Pete’s grandfather, where did that come from?
Raimi has decided to show us NO SHOTS OF VENOM at all in the trailer, so I guess we are going to have to wait a little longer until some unofficial picture is leaked to see what he looks like.
My thoughts on the trailer? Well it’s good no doubt, but I don’t feel the exictment that I did after seeing the Spider-Man 2 trailer. The movie just seems so full packed to the brim of different storylines and characters that I hope it doesn’t end up watering down everything. Lots of rumours are circulating that we may only see Venom at the very end, teasing a Spider-Man 4 which I’m not quite sure is a good idea because everyone is drooling over seeing Venom in Spider-Man 3.
The visual effects of The Sandman look great, Harry as the Green Goblin II didn’t look as bad as the concept pictures released the other day but you can’t really see a lot of him in the trailer. From the trailer, I’m getting a sense that Mary Jane is going to be killed off in this movie, it’s just a feeling I get whilst watching it. Call it my Spidey-sense or something.
Thoughts on the trailer guys? I’m giving it 3 out of 5 stars, a good trailer but not quite what I was expecting. Disappointed we didn’t see Venom?

I think it’s going to have quite a few running plotlines, but the main theme will be revenge.

Venom will be in it. Count on it. What I’ve heard is that Peter realizes the symbiote is weak against sound and takes it into a church belltower to pull it off. He finally frees himself of it, only to have it fall down on Eddie Brock below (see the teaser… he’s looking up at the tower) who is at the church praying that God would kill Peter Parker for, I believe, being partially responsible for his girlfriend Gwen Stacy’s death. Brock wants to get even, so he kidnaps MJ with the intent of killing her (Dunst has confirmed she is kidnapped by Venom in interviews) Spidey goes after her, and gets some unlikely help from Harry Osborn, who eithers dies or is seriously injured during the fight.
Revenge is the theme of Spidey 3. From what I’ve heard, Peter wants revenge on Sandman for Uncle Ben’s death, Harry wants revenge on Peter for his father’s death and Eddie Brock wants revenge for his girlfriend Gwen Stacy’s death.

I don’t think MJ will die. I think there will be other major deaths, to be sure, but not hers.
All in all, I liked it. I’m pumped. And I predict it will hands down be the biggest film of 2007.

Very interesting stuff and a lot of what you say seems to make sense. The trailer wasnt bad by any means, it’s still my most anticipated movie in production.
This movie is going to do huge numbers when it’s released, of that I have no doubt.
Please kill MJ … I cannot look at Dunst’s teeth anymore, and that sickly, constipated look on her face doesn’t help.
Terrific trailer. Looks pretty dark, which is good. I am not a huge fan of the first two movies, particularly the second one. I just find them remarkably cartoony.
However, Sandman looks like he’ll be a fun adversary, unlike the ridiculous Doc Ock.
