Six minutes from Josh Hartnett’s I COME WITH THE RAIN

Wow, this one looks way more interesting than I thought it would - though I don’t exactly know where this near six minutes long trailer came from originally, it desperately needs some cutting work done to it before it can officially be released.

It’s the leaked trailer for the Hong Kong set thriller I Come With the Rain which stars Josh Hartnett (who give him credit is starting to choose some interesting roles) as a private detective who, haunted by a past encounter with a serial killer, heads for the Far East to search for a missing heir who has the power to heal with his touch.

Tran Nu Yen Khe and Lee Byung-hun also star, as does the great character actor Elias Koteas who might get more screentime than usual here and I’m all for it.

I Come With the Rain feels fresh, the setting feels new, Hartnett’s performance looks powerful, the direction looks solid. With some cutting this could be one hell of a trailer. It comes from Vietnamese helmer Anh Hung Tran

  1. “Nothing was as great as the pain of his soul”, give me a break! Aaaanyway, looks like it could be a pretty good film except for a couple of things: 1) It looks like it might lapse into the good-evil paradigm embellished with idiosyncracies that held up films like Seven, (2) JOSH HARTNETT CAN’T ACT!!! In a mental institution - blank expression, covered with blood - blank expression, gun pointed at his head - blank expresssion, (3) That trailer clearly just told me the entire story, if this film is plot driven it won’t be worth the cost of a cinema ticket.

Nonetheless, don’t want to be too down on it. It does look interesting. :-)
