Seth Rogen has responded to reports that Sony/Columbia had pulled the plug on THE GREEN HORNET, which he has co-written with Evan Goldberg and is set to lead.
He tells Hitfix, who was the source of the original news…
“‘The Green Hornet’ has many people working for it, including production designers, costume designers and many conceptual artists, office staff, etc.,” he said during our e-mail exchange back and forth. “[The studio heads] have every intention on making it, and assuming we’re able to hire a new director in the upcoming weeks, which seems like a distinct possibilty, it should still hit the release date.”
AICN also seem to believe that Stephen Chow has only left directing duties and is still involved as an actor, playing the sidekick Kato.
Which is great news because I know Rogen has put an awful lot of passion into this project. Hell he’s really done a great job dropping the weight and the odd combination of Chow and the guys who wrote SUPERBAD just seems like it will wackily work.
So, who now to direct? I would have gone with Edgar Wright but he’s busy right now… wouldn’t mind seeing David Gordon Green (THE PINEAPPLE EXPRESS) work with Seth Rogen again.

Let it die. It is SciFi movie of the week material at best. Green Hornet is running neck and neck with Shazam for most talked about project that nobody cares about.
It will always be “dead” if Rogen insists on making the film a comedy?
Fans are not interested in that take and that is why no one is behind this project.
Fans? Of the Green Hornet? There are like 14 still alive worldwide, who cares about them? A comedy might be the only thing that would make it watchable, on DVD or cable of course.
