fg.jpgEven though we had trade confirmation last month from Variety that Shia LaBeouf was in Indiana Jones IV AND even though we told you three weeks before that LaBeouf would be in the flickUSA Today still need to tell us that he will be in the movie.

It’s all good though, as they do give us some nice juicy quotes…

“Up until about two weeks ago, it was little more than a rumor…Literally, when I was saying, ‘I don’t know anything,’ I didn’t know anything. It was an act of faith. I have not read a script. I don’t think anybody has.”

What a load of bollocks, but anyway….

“I can tell you I’m sort of the sidekick character, obviously…I’m sure there are a lot of laughs at my expense, and some kind of creature crawling on me. But it’s not going to be Short Round, all grown up!”

God I hated Short Round. One of the worst sidekick characters in movie history. In fact, I hate him more than Jar Jar, because at least there was so much crap in The Phantom Menace that the movie still wouldn’t have been great without him… but without Short Round in The Temple of Doom… that flick would have been SOOO much better.

I think we can all pretty much agree that LaBeouf will likely have the role of Indy’s son. I only know him as the annoying kid in I, Robot and Constantine but he has his chance to impress me with Disturbia and Transformers this summer. And of course, it’s more down to how Speilberg, Lucas and Koepp use his character because if they use him as the comedy sidekick joke character, it won’t matter how good an actor he is… the role will die a quick death.
