It would seem that the impending writers strike might have put a little kink in Lionsgate’s annual money making plan for the Saw franchise. According to Darren Lynn Bousman they usually have a script completed by Christmas, with tweaks and re-writings occuring in the New Year before they go out and complete filming before the Summer.
Well of course, with the upcoming writer’s strike… they may not this time have as long as Christmas to complete the script. Infact by the sounds of it, they only have till the end of the month.
David Hackl, the rookie director of Saw V spoke to Shock Till You Drop…
“We have about a week to write the outline, then the script by the end of the month. We’re really just throwing down the ideas now and it’s coming together quickly,”
Now I realise that none of the scripts for the Saw series (especially 2 and 3) have been Shakespeare but a couple of weeks is a really short time span to put a script together for anything.
Speaking as someone who is not a fan at all of the Saw series, it’s become pretty evident to me that the franchise is getting worse with each film that is released. The dip in quality was particulary evident in the last movie of the series and with the secracy surrounding Saw IV and the time span they have for Saw V… not to mention that Darren Lynn Bousman won’t be back… are we seeing the beginning of the end for the series?
Saw IV opens in just a few weeks time and it’s void of much competition after the other films in the genre ran away with their tails between their legs and were either released before the Halloween season (Halloween) or were pushed back to next year (Trick ‘R Treat).
The only film that was brave enough to go up against Saw IV was the vampire horror 30 Days of Night which opens next week in the U.S.

why would you make another saw when jigsaw was killed in the last saw that was out. ITs really stupid that they would do that. I would like to talk to one of the writers and ask why would you write another saw why not just let it be jigsaw did some killing got sick and was killed that a good ending to the ending of the series. Its done and now your making another saw what did jigsaw magically come back to life and his throat isnt cut and he isnt dead. Whoever is reading this give me an answer back

i want to see Dr. gordon as the real apprentice. right at the end of saw 6 when the main character is getting out of his/her trap, i would have it so Dr. gordon comes out of like a back room showing he was the real apprentice.

Well i was mislead @ the box of saw iv. I had never seen saw before and the box looked like a half man half pig. Saw’s just not the same without the original jigsaw, the writers have to bring him back to life. I watched a documentary the other day, you can have a transplant of a pigs heart if your heart is failing. Since the pig is a big symbol in saw they could do this or they could take jigsaws brain and put it in a pig. I dnnow. But nether the less saw v is going to be a great film. I think jeffs daughter will also be in it and hopefully dr. gordon comes back too.
