Frank Miller put the work in on SIN CITY, his training movie under the wing of Robert Rodriguez and it’s now time for him to go into the deep water without the armbands. I think THE SPIRIT will float, I think it will be one of the very best movies of next year and it will have Miller playing in the Film Noir/Detective genre that we both love.
The Hollywood Reporter claim that Sarah Paulson (Golden Globe nominee for STUDIO SIXTY ON THE SUNSET STRIP) has joined the cast as THE SPIRIT’S true love, Dr. Ellen Doran.
She also just happens to be the police commissioner’s daughter.
She joins the mega hot Eva Mendes and Scarlett Johansson as the female portion of the cast. Gabriel Macht will be THE SPIRIT and Samuel L. Jackson plays his arch nemesis The Octopus. What a cast, and all of them are the kind of people that Miller would draw out in his own comics, so none of these names are a surprise for me.
Production will begin in October in New Mexico and will be shot entirely at Albuquerque Studios. Bring on 2009!
