Sarah Michelle Gellar is in final talks to replace Kate Bosworth in Veronika Decides to Die, an Indie drama based on Paulho Cohelo’s novel.

Bosworth first signed onto the project in September and Variety don’t mention what happened which caused the young actress to leave, or even when the film’s start date is.

Which means which just have to presume she left for scheduling reasons as Bosworth’s soon to film the horror flick After.Life.

Story centers on a severely depressed woman who rediscovers her will to live after learning that she has only days left due to the irreparable damage done to her heart as a result of her recent suicide attempt.

For Gellar, it’s another Indie movie for an actress who either willingly or forced, is dabbling into smaller movies now with Southland Tales and The Air I Breathe. She also has the fantasy horror movie Alice on her schedule, a dark take on Alice in Wonderland that she will star in for director Marcus Nispel (Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, Pathfinder).

Anything that takes the actress away from those tired old horror movies (see her upcoming flick Possession) is welcomed by me. Expect this to be a tearjerker.
