Yet another superhero project for Sam Raimi, this time over at Disney where he will produce The Transplants – an action adventure pitch from Adam Jay Epstein and Andrew Jacobsen, two writers who co-wrote Not Another Teen Movie.
Disney are keeping stum on the high-concept plot though The Hollywood Reporter have heard it described “as a four-quadrant ensemble superhero story with a comedic bent”.
The deal for the pitch is said to be in the high six figures. Epstein and Jacobsen had planned to pitch the idea as a comic book but Disney exec Kristin Burr see’s huge potential in this project as a film.
It probably goes without saying that this is the first Raimi/Disney project in history – two names I never thought I would ever see together.
We will have more on this as it develops, but call me intrigued at this point.
