Rocky Balboa Trailer

I remember seeing my first Rocky movie when I was on a bus trip to Spain in 1992, and although I can remember very little about the movie (a black boxer dying in the ring, does that sound right?) I remember thinking Sylvester Stallone was like this God.

14 years later and I think very differently now, I really find it hard to watch any of his movies, his acting at times is just ridicolus. I don’t think he is as bad as Arnie but he is still terrible with very few exceptions where his acting has been passable (Cop Land he was ok).

Since that time I’ve also only seen one Rocky movie… Rocky I. I think it’s a great story and a wonderful script which Stallone should be praised for, but the movie itself is more than a bit bland. However, I will now endeavour to watch the rest of the Rocky movies before this one is released in the UK.

You can see the trailer for Rocky Balboa by clicking here.

This trailer didn’t exactly do anything for me, but it did peek my interest in the brutual boxing clips at the end. This is for sure Rocky’s biggest challenge yet, and the first of many 80’s returns over the next 12 months or so (Die Hard, Rambo, Day of the Dead).

Rocky Balboa is released 22nd December in the U.S. and 9th February in the U.K.

I always felt that the original “Rocky” was overrated, but it nonetheless became a huge hit, spawning ever more ridiculous sequels.

This looks like simply a retread of the original Rocky, except with the “let’s root for Rocky because he’s old and in danger of dying in the ring” angle tacked on. I wonder if he dies at the end…hmmmm….we can only hope.

I’m sure it will be a huge hit.
