We told you as much on Jan 1st 2008, the moment ALIEN VS. PREDATOR: REQUIEM failed to light up the box office that a full reboot of both franchises was inevitable.
Now we are hearing word from Bloody Disgusting’s “trusted sources” that Robert Rodriguez is on board to produce for Fox with his Troublemaker Studios but probably won’t direct (which means the project might actually get made unlike most of those Rodriguez has his name currently attached too).
No writer is on board yet but we do have a pitch…
“In the reboot a team of commandoes face down a mysterious race of vicious monsters.”
The news is there won’t just be one Predator but TWO! So much for man vs. alien!
Rodriguez, if I remember correctly wrote a screenplay for a PREDATOR movie set on his alien homeworld which was rejected as being “too expensive” before 20th Century Fox decided to go with Paul W.S. Anderson’s take of a battle between the juggernauts Alien and Predator.
If that script is still lying around, maybe, just maybe, Rodriguez might push for that to be used and come into the director’s chair. I love the original PREDATOR movie but I look at actors like The Rock, I look at actors like Terry Crews, like Ron Perlman and Mickey Rourke… and well I get excited about what Rodriguez could do with them here.
There’s definitely a case of becareful what you wish for but a Robert Rodriguez PREDATOR stand-alone movie, is something I would pay to see. Is that so bad, have I sinned?

It’s certainly got much to live up to. Predator is one of the great action monster movies of the 80’s.

I could go for a Predator remake. I just hope it doesn’t give them any ideas about doing an Alien one.
Anything half decent with a Predator in I’m gonna watch, there’s so much cool stuff to play with in those characters…just dont pitt them up against Aliens again Please! that last one was utter shit!
Rodriguez surely has a great sense of those kind of flicks. I’m sure he can put a great spin on the Predator. Would be cool.
This is insane. Hollywood and Fox are truly finished if they have to resort to this.

Why fix what isn’t broken? The original Predator is perfect. It is legendary and does not need rebooted. The first two Predator and the first three (maybe four at a push) Alien movies were great. What they need is good quality sequels. Just ignore those terrible AvP films.
Any reboot would just be a tacky mess. Films like Batman got rebooted because the original films were cheesey and they wanted to take it down a darker, more gritty path. The Predator and Aliens series were and still are great and just do not need fixed.
So just do a great sequel and stop trying to ruin great franchises.
i think f*** the restart, remake or w/e u wanna call it i think you should just make a predator three with either john cena or the rock get some new characters come on the rock dont look like arnold at least cena has some
sort of resemblence for a restart, but if you put rock in make it for a predator three not a restart or a remake other wise you will mess up the hole movie
and i highly agree with that other guys comment why remake or restart un broken movies? movies today have all the graphics they need but it seems like the originals out do these graphics they had better actors and scripts
movies are getting to predictable these days i can watch a horror movie and ill know when someones gonna die before they die im like sigh ok hes dead shes dead this movie sucks, all the old movie may not have had good quality
but they did have good actors good directors collin and greg strauss messd up avp and avp-r find new directors i beg you other wise please never make another avp, another statement from me the old movies had better scripts than today it seems like if its about sex action violence or killing youll make w/e they see wrote down look at transporter 3 grabd a bike and stompd the bike peddles off the bike come on thats lame movies with all these graphics are really getting fake and stupid movie like this make me not even want a tv
