If only Rob Zombie listened to us in the first place. Ya know and I said it in the whole build up to his remake two years ago, I really believe Zombie could have made the best movie set around the HALLOWEEN slasher premise since the original John Carpenter movie in 1978.
Free from the expectations and shackles of a great master, he had the talent to make a suspenseful and scary flick, one that reinvented the character and didn’t have to worry about whether it was a remake, sequel or reboot. It just needed to be a good HALLOWEEN story with new characters, where the character of Myers was already established.
And only now, he’s beginning to realise it. He spoke to IGN this week…
“I just realized that the great thing about doing this one is, with the last one there was some sense of retaining some John Carpenter-ness about it all,” he explains. “And now it didn’t matter. This movie is 100 percent whatever I want to do. And we never discussed Halloween or Michael Myers or anything. In fact, every time we do something we go, ‘This doesn’t seem [like Halloween].’ We can do whatever we want and it’s very freeing. And I think it’s making for a much better movie because we’re not trying to do what anyone is expecting at all. In fact, we’re trying to do the exact opposite at all times — exactly what people aren’t expecting. You figure with a character like this, this time I really wanted to reinvent him. Because what is this? The 2,000th film, I mean with all the sequels and stuff? So that was the main thing.”
And that’s why I’m so behind him coming back for a sequel. I really think now, without the burden of Carpenter’s shadow he has the opportunity to not only make Michael Myers relevant again but make a movie that craps on the rest of the genre. He is a better filmmaker than the guys behind the other horror remakes recently and I think he is now in the right mindset to show it.

I still think hes fucking retarded to recreate a classic character. Why would you try an take a clssic character and make his something else. Its like takingyour hero and and having him raped by a red neck in front of an audience, hes a dick and a terrible director because saying that he is the best director of todays horror genre is like saying someone is the best athlete of a bunch of 90 year old people. Either way the best horror director will be Danny Boyle with 28 days later and Bryn Berino for te starngers especially sine it was his first movie he touched. So yeah bassicallly rob zombie sucks ass in film and should stay in rickabilly gay music and stay away from my passion, film. PERIOD

Well Scotty technically I said “other horror remakes” and not the genre on a whole.
I mean the guys behind movies like BLACK CHRISTMAS, FRIDAY THE 13th, TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, PROM NIGHT, etc.
Gotcha SORRY, MISREAD my bad i renact that commment. my bad but i kinda see what you mean i just was very dissapointed with the first one because it was my favorite horror movie and he ruined it so it put a bd taste in my mouth for rob zombie and i wanted to puke when i heard he was making a sequel.
It was nota mistake i really loved the film. It was one of the best Halloween movies i’ve seen in years . Keep up the great work Rob Zombie.
