Raimi wants Raimi to write The Evil Dead 4?

It feels like it’s been ten years of Sam Raimi talking about shooting The Evil Dead 4, so I wouldn’t put too much worth into his latest comments about wanting to return to the franchise that got him noticed…

“I’m trying to get my brother, Ivan, to write the screenplay with me. He wrote Army of Darkness, the third one, with me and we have been talking about another one, but we haven’t started work on it”, says Raimi.

I could see the brothers working on a new script but for someone else to direct it. I can’t see why Raimi would choose to return to the franchise at this time in his career. He has shot 3 Evil Dead movies, what more does he have to say? 

Not to mention that he is one of the most powerful directors in Hollywood after shooting the Spider-Man trilogy. I feel like his next project is going to be something that’s an original movie, and one that is going to be a big personal project from the helmer. I really can’t seem him returning to either the Spidey or horror franchise as his next movie.

And thank god the talk of an Evil Dead remake seems to have died. I think the only person who wants that to happen will be Bruce Campbell.
