Rachel Dawes believes in Harvey Dent!
What is it about the Rachel Dawes role?
Is it cursed to turn stars into scenes of gross over-acting and reciting uncomfortable monologues?
I hope she ain’t as bad as this in the movie. I believe this is the first time outside of a few shocked looks in the teaser trailer that we have seen Maggie Gyllenhaal in motion for this summer’s blockbuster The Dark Knight.
To be fair she might have been brought into to do this without much preparation but I hope that she has NOT been instructed to act like Katie Holmes because if she has then that is a disaster waiting to happen.
Genius bit of marketing though (we aren’t publishing everything WB are doing because there is just too much, but we will post what we find most interesting such as this)…

Yeah, I don’t see that big of a difference between her and Katie Holmes’ performances.

I didn’t have a problem with Katie Holmes, it’s just nerds that are overreacting.

Batman’s struggled with his leading ladies down the years. Nicole Kidman, Uma Thurman, Kim Basinger, Katie Holmes… all stunk their respective films out.
Only Michelle Pfeiffer seemed at home in Gotham. Then again - she was Catwoman.
Speaking of Katie Holmes… she was OK in Begins… but she got caught out because the rest of the cast were such extraordinary actors. She was the small fish in a big pond, though I do think the dialogue and the whole role they gave her just didn’t suit her style at all.

Maggie is far and away the more talented actress than Katie Holmes,so I’m sure she’s going to be better-besides, how big can her part be, anyway? I heard she only has 20 minutes of screentime-perhaps Batman will find her laying dead w/ a twisted grin frozen on her face-a victim of The Joker-thus making it personal when Bats goes after him, and clearing the female lead for Selina Kyle in part 3-if you absolutely HAVE to have a chick for Batman in a Batman flick, may as well be Catwoman-I bet Nolan could make her great.

Haha, honestly, I agree with Matt. Out of all the leading woman roles, Rachel Dawes’ character was by far the worst. She had no reason to even be alive, and not a whole lot of fans really liked her. I wouldn’t be disappointed if they did kill her off, just as long as they bring Catwoman, (Whom I think that Rachel McAdams would do PHENOMENAL!) Now, the only complaint I have about Maggie Gylenhall is this: Nolan went from Katie Holmes, who was “Girl-next-door” cute to Maggie Gylenhall, who is “AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! Gouge-out-your-eyes ugly” AND not only that, but that little Skank is in love with Bruce at the end of Begins, and now, in the Dark Knight, she’s with her BOSS!!! SLEEPING WITH HIM FOR A RAISE, NO DOUBT! (Pun Intended) So yeah, that’s my ranting and raving about her.
