39 year old American actor Owen Wilson has been hospitalized after a suicide attempt at his home in Santa Monica, California reports Variety. Reports from the National Enquirer and Star magazine say the actor had slashed his left-wrist and taken an under-determined amount of pills.
A family member is said to have found the actor.
“On Sunday Aug. 26. 2007 at 12:10 pm officers from the Santa Monica Police Department responded to a medical assistance call from the Santa Monica Fire Department,” the police said in a news release. “The person was transported to a local hospital where they are being treated.”
Wilson’s wrists were then bandaged and the actor is to be “detoxed” at the hospital.
Wilson is one of the leading actors in the dubbed ‘frat pack’ of comedy actors that include the likes of his good friend Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn. Wilson has proved to be a popular actor at the box office with hits like The Wedding Crashes, Starsky & Hutch and You, Me and Dupree and was in the middle of a busy schedule of movies he was to star in. He may have even been filming Tropic Thunder with Stiller at this time as IMDB suggest, but that’s only my assumption so don’t take that as fact.
Although I’ve made it quite clear how I feel about Wilson’s acting ability, I’m saddened to hear this. A guy who always has a smile on his face, Wilson seemed to have been a guy who took life less seriously than most and just looked to have a good time. Let’s hope he pulls through this one ok.

that’s a real shame,I’m not a big fan of his stuff but I like him.
Life sucks Balls enough without hearing about guys like Owen Wilson trying to do himself in.
Absolutely Glove. I have a mixed relationship with Wilson’s films and can only take so much in one go, but it’s shocking to hear that a man who so often seems to be a happy guy and puts across a cheery persona has tried to take his own life.
Here’s hoping that Owen is alright and bounces back soon. Sad news.
Shows how much of a front alot of these celebrities put on for the cameras. cant imagine the situation he must of been in to want to take his own life. i wish him well
I despise Owen Wilson, but this is still sad. His attitude is much like mine, I hope he recovers quickly.
